About Me
italki teacher since Dec 11, 2016
I love traveling and I have been to Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, the United States, Canada, South Africa, Kenya, and Tanzania. I studied English for about 1 year in Canada. When I started teaching on italki, I was living in Chiangmai in Thailand for 3 months because I thought I could live anywhere in the world while teaching online if the internet was available. If you also like to travel, we can talk about other countries’ culture.)
Me as a Teacher
I am a professional Korean teacher. Now I live in Jeonju in Korea. I have been teaching on italki since 2017, but I first started in 2011. I was in an exchange program in Tanzania in the university and I helped some children speak Korean at Hangeul school. It was a new experience for me and I had a really good time with them. After that, when I traveled to Southeast Asia, I met some foreigners who were interested in Korean culture especially K-pop and K-dramas. I found out people feel happy to have a conversation in a foreign language with a native speaker. Those experiences made me think teaching Korean might be one of the wonderful things I can do. That’s why I got a certificate.
My lessons & teaching style
In my lesson, you don’t need to buy any books because I have special learning materials that I made by myself using PowerPoint. I share my screen during the lesson. And, I will provide you with the learning materials. With my materials and tools, you will feel as if you were in a classroom. I will also correct your mistakes and organize the important sentences so I can send them to you for practice.

Nyota always excels at covering all the details regarding new material. Even with concepts that I may have already learned on my own, she always finds a way to provide new details or exceptions to the rules with pertinent examples to improve my current understanding.

I deeply appreciate how Nyota is so malleable regarding the lesson structure. When an unfamiliar concept comes up in our lessons, she is never afraid to delve into those topics as they come. I feel like I retain new information more easily when it comes up naturally, so Nyota's adaptability is an excellent quality to suit my learning style.

I deeply appreciate learning from an instructor with whom I feel comfortable making mistakes. I oftentimes feel pressured to perform perfectly for other more serious instructors, but Nyota creates a relaxed, yet comprehensive learning environment where mistakes are simply seen as opportunities for improvement.
