About Me

Hey there! I'm Laura, a 21 year old student from Dublin in Ireland. I studied sports science and health so I love all things health and fitness. Up until the pandemic I had been travelling a lot which is something I am passionate about because since I was young different cultures, languages and ways have thinking have always fascinated me. I love meeting new people and am open to talking about anything and everything. I also love cooking, playing with my dog, watching my favourite football team, practicing yoga and improving my Spanish and Portuguese.

Me as a Teacher

I am a language student myself and used to be painfully shy when speaking a foreign language. I didn't let that stop me though! I figured out that the hardest part of speaking any foreign language is starting. The fear of failure can be terrifying but finding a teacher that you feel comfortable speaking to can make all the difference. In my classes, mistakes are encouraged as they are what we learn from. We all make mistakes but languages are a tool for communication with others most importantly and I believe that comfort - not perfection- is key. As a teacher I'm am constantly trying to find better ways to help my students, including recently finishing my TEFL certification.

My lessons & teaching style

My lessons are relaxed and fairly informal. We can talk about a whole host of different topics. I also hope to be able to teach you about Ireland and some of the rich culture and customs that we have. I will use a wide variety of teaching materials so the classes aren't stale and you can feel comfortable and confident conversing about almost anything. However, if you have specific topics that interest you or you would like to learn more about feel free to tell me and I will do my best to help you in whatever way I can. I can also help you with any homework assignments, help you correct anything you may have written or even help prepare you for job interviews.
