I have been a Teacher on italki for several years. Before that I studied languages at the University (English, Spanish, French). I have a certificate for teaching languages to adult learners, but my experience expands to helping younger students with their school subjects (History, Literature and foreign languages). In my experience the biggest problem with learning a language is that the students think they need to get it perfectly right every time they say something. This stops you from talking freely, and makes you fal short of your full potential. In my lessons, I will encourage you to speak without being afraid of making mistakes. I offer different kinds of lessons, some follow a course structure, others are only focused on conversation. Of course it's also possible to mix a structural approach with free speaking.

I have recently completed the 180 Hour TEFL Course. I have been teaching German online. When I lived in Germany, we learned that the best way to improve your language skills is to speak. Similarly as a teacher, I believe interacting and speaking a language improves confidence and builds vocabulary.

My experience as a language teacher started in 2020 on italki. I have fun explaining the German language to others and I am really patient with students takeing their time to learn. I just started learning Indonesian so I experience for myself again how difficult it can be and that being harsh on a student is the least effective way to learn easy and fast.

I was teaching imaginary students when I was about 5 years old - tea parties were not really my thing ;) Now, it's been more than 10 years of teaching experience with real students in Germany, Spain and France, kids, teenagers and adults, online and offline. When I teach, the main goal is to make the student speak, but we also practise listening and reading comprehension as well as writing. The tools we use in online lessons are engaging photos, videos, cartoons, audio files, titles, texts... I can claim to be a creative teacher :)

Level B1 and up only, please! I love teaching, because I get to share my culture and help others improve their German language skills. Also I love traveling and connecting with so many beautiful people from different cultures and from all over the world. As a teacher I'm very energetic, motivating and am also giving a lot of extra tips on how to improve with little daily habits when you are on your own. Consistency is key when learning a language! I give you the little extra boost of confidence that you sometimes need when learning a language.

I myself have learned many foreign languages. I can relate to a situation when you start learning, it all goes well for a while and then it all just stops and no matter what you do, you cannot move on and improve your language level. I've developed different strategies that worked for myself and for my students and I will be happy to share them with you.

What distinguishes me from other teachers is my passion as well as my strategy. I like to prepare conversation topics, songs, news articles, philosophical questions that have the relevant vocabulary and grammar structures to improve your language skills. Several of my students have started as beginners with me and went on to suceed in moving to Germany. My personal opinion is that anyone can learn a language: it is not a talent, but a skill. Just like math or riding a skateboard, it is a skill that you can develop. I am here to help you hone in on your skills and succeed in your interview, language exam or reading a book in English or German.

I'm not a big proponent of old-school style language teaching but rather like to introduce my students to new, innovative methods and figure out the one that works best for them.
