I have always enjoyed teaching and sharing knowledge with the people around me, so giving language classes is something that comes quite natural to me. I'm a very patient person and it gives me great satisfaction to see my students progress, each one at their on individual pace. I started teaching German to international students in 2009 as a private tutor during my university studies. During that time I realized that this is my true passion, because I love to work with people and seeing progress in my students makes me feel proud and truly happy. After graduation I took several courses to become a professional teacher and soon got a job at a reputable high school in Taiwan. Besides teaches classes, I still tutor private students and currently I am on a temporary leave to travel the world, while still tutoring online and funding my dream through italki.

Als Lehrkraft habe ich an verschiedenen Stellen wertvolle Erfahrungen gesammelt: ich habe ein Praktikum an der Deutschen Schule in Oslo absolviert, habe in Deutschland mit jungen Menschen gearbeitet, die Deutsch als Fremdsprache lernten und als Privattutorin Englisch in Kambodscha unterrichtet. Language learning should be FUN! I want to help you feel RELAXED and not nervous when speaking German. Since I have many italki teachers myself, I know how important it is, to make the student speak. YES - YOU HAVE TO SPEAK! IN GERMAN! And I promise: It's not as hard as you think! Let's neglect the difficult grammar for a while and you will be surprised how soon you will be able to comunicate! Let me give you an example: What if I said: "Have he cat?" instead of "Does he have a cat?" - It's wrong, but totally understandable! -> So if you say "Er haben Katze?" instead of "Hat er eine Katze?" everybody will be able to understand you!

I am open, flexible, approachable and I like to keep the lessons fun and engaging, and to help people talk without the fear of making mistakes. As soon as I hear you speak, I'll try to pinpoint your strengths and weaknesses and come up with the individualized approach that will help you with your specific language-learning goals and needs. I like to always use modern and engaging materials which enhance motivation for learning.

I'm not a big proponent of old-school style language teaching but rather like to introduce my students to new, innovative methods and figure out the one that works best for them.

* Communication centered lessons: free spirit, with correct grammar. * Textbook: I use BEGEGNUNGEN (A1, A2, B1) and ERKUNDUNGEN (B2, C1, C2) + A/B/C Grammatik * Google Docs: during lesson, I write down new vocabulary, expressions etc. in a shared google docs I adapt to my students: if we use a textbook or not, up to you. Some students prefer free style lessons, others prefer more guided ones. Conversation is usually: your thoughts and experiences. All lessons are 100% individual.

Der Grund meines Studiums der Germanistik (ab 2011) war vor allem der Wunsch Deutsch als Fremdsprache zu unterrichten. Bereits während des Studiums begann ich mit Abendkursen an der Volkshochschule, wo ich auf Niveaus von A1 bis B2 unterrichte. Spezialisiert habe ich mich dann auf die medizinische Fachsprache für Pflegekräfte und Mediziner und die Vorbereitung auf die Fachsprachprüfung (FSP), da mein zuerst erlernter Beruf Physiotherapeutin ist und ich daher mit der medizinischen Terminologie bestens vertraut bin.

As someone who used to stutter and dislike languages (and especially the pesky grammar), getting into intense-self-studies to improve my English became my origin story. I worked as teacher for English in my hometown for 2 years afterward, after acquiring a C2 certificate from Cambridge. This encouraged me to also intensely study and re-fresh the German grammar, phonetics and teaching techniques (didactic) before starting to teach it online full-time. (it included a lot of head-shaking, and I’m a native) Through that, and my pursuit to master art I don’t believe in inherited talent, but pursued interest. Everyone can, through dedication, practice and fun, learn to speak a foreign language.

Although I am not a trained teacher, I can nevertheless help you learn German as a native-speaking tutor. Since I studied German studies for a few semesters and in my other study programmes I have also attended courses with didactic and pedagogical contents, this knowledge will definitely be of use to you. Everyone is invited to take part in my classes to improve their existing German language skills in a relaxed atmosphere together with me. I have a university degree (Bachelor and Master) in teaching languages and I have been teaching German, English and Spanish for over 5 years to students of different ages. My oldest student was 80 and I think he is a good example that it is never too late to start learning a new language or enhancing your language skills and taking your language learning to the next level. I am currently learning my third language. I really do understand how hard it can be to learn a new language, let alone to master it.
