Using weird but memorable examples you put into practice what you've learned. I have been teaching in iTalki since 2016 as my full-time job and before iTalki, I taught English since 2011. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Languages with a Major in English Translation. Nevertheless, I love teaching languages. ❏ Cancellation Policy Unfortunately, I only reschedule classes for cancellation in case of emergencies. If a student is more than 10 minutes late or is a no-show, students will be charged for the entire lesson.

I really think pronunciation is very important, since we almost always communicate verbally, and that's how we make first impressions. I am a firm believer in making learning - especially language learning - fun and am convinced that with this, dedication and immersion you can get pretty much anywhere in a language! But also: don't be afraid to mess up! Everybody makes mistakes when getting into a new language (I've been there), and sometimes it will seem like you'll never stop making the same mistakes, but I am happy to help and go over things multiple times.

I have many teaching techniques that students have been very pleased with when they work with me. When we meet, I will ask you what you would like to work on specifically. There are many things we could work on, including conversational skills, listening comprehension, reading comprehension, writing skills, pronunciation, and grammar rules, just to name a few. All of these aspects can be improved by using different techniques within my class. Whichever you choose, I promise that it will be beneficial. I am very patient and non-judgmental. I graduated from Cambridge University in 1989. I qualified as a CELTA teacher in 2004 and have worked with International House and the British Council. I have taught General English, Business English, Legal English and Cambridge/IELTS Exam classes.

For many years I worked in schools, in fact, I have been a pedagogical coordinator in one of them, and since 2015 I have been a private teacher. I have been an English and Spanish teacher since 2007 and I have worked in several private and public institutions. I have a bachelor’s degree in English and Spanish teaching from Universidad Pedagogica Nacional and I am currently living in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where I work as an English teacher. I taught English to college students from 2008 to 2015, and I also taught English literature and directed a few language immersions at the universities I worked at. From 2015 to 2018, I lived in Washington DC and worked as a History/Spanish teacher at a bilingual multicultural school where I had the chance to teach students not only from the US but also from Central America, Africa and Asia.

I hope we can have a class together one day and you can tell me what you need to become a better speaker. I have a lot of material that I have prepared by myself to help you learn to speak modern American English quickly.

I love to travel. I have traveled to Germany, China, Hungary, Turkey, Ireland, Puerto Rice, and the eastern half of the USA so far. One of my favorite travel memories is playing soccer with Turkish children. I'm currently fixing a travel trailer so I can explore more of America and Canada. I have "grandma" hobbies such as reading, writing, baking, and knitting. I also have outdoorsy hobbies like hiking, kayaking, and volunteering on a horse farm. I'm a bit of a nerd, so I enjoy talking about things like Harry Potter. What things do we have in common? Let's talk about it! I show students a new thing in English every week. These things range from a good song to a comic I enjoy.

I love being an English teacher because helping others reach their language goals reminds me of my own journey learning Spanish! In the first lesson we will talk about the reason you are taking lessons and what you want to learn from the class. From there I can work out what we need to focus on and what you want to improve and achieve. I can provide home work and constructive feedback. Each lesson will be tailored specifically to your needs.

I have a couple decades of experience teaching in many different settings--college students, corporate executives, lawyers, children, and more. I've worked with multiple different clients from varying cultures. My students describe my personality as easy-going, motivating, engaged, friendly and encouraging. No doubt.
