Interesting first lesson. Halyna was kind, patient and personable. You can tell that Halyna enjoys working with beginners, and that has taught in person, as she tried to use many paper based resources. We mostly looked at screen shots of her preferred textbook that introduces early language concepts. It is likely a very good textbook for people who do not already speak a slavic language, though it is expensive and this teacher does not provide you with a copy but encourages you to buy it instead, which is not typical of italki teachers, who usually provide all required materials, and there does not seem to be a complete PDF version of the book available to download anywhere. It might be a good idea instead to use something like Miro or Google Docs and insert the desired exercises there and work on one of those platforms instead. Her English is very good which is a plus for complete beginners, and her preference for paper would be good for those without a Russian or Ukrainian keyboard.
