❖I get you speaking by asking questions and helping with the answers. Each question focuses on a particular word or a piece of grammar, and when you give your answer, I help you to say a complete sentence so that you yourself practice the word or piece of grammar.
❖You are listening to Japanese all the time, you speak a lot, and all your mistakes are corrected.
❖You get used to quick, natural speech because I in a lesson speak quickly.

If you study Japanese with me, you will
❖Learn to listen and respond to Japanese spoken at normal conversational speed.
❖Learn to think and speak directly into Japanese without translating.
❖Learn useful words and grammar structures.
❖Improve your pronunciation, intonation and grammar skills with constant correction.
❖Check your understanding and progress with your class notes and homework (reading and writing).

Eriko is always very encouraging, understanding and accomodating; her lessons are light hearted and fun but to the point, well paced and well thought-through. I have been learning with her for well over a year, and it was worth every session. I fully recommend studying with her.
We usually start out with a bit off small talk (the weather,...), then we go through our current lesson which she prepares with pictures and sentences from the textbook but also adds in additional material and examples that she can pull out when more is needed. She adjusts the speed of her lesson on the spot to how am I fairing (and how well prepared I am). We sometimes use Spanish and/or English as a bridge language, but mainly she sticks with explanations in Japanese which works very well. She also encourages me to repeat questions I asked in English to repeat in Japanese; which I really appreciate. Speaking and being understood is easy and encouraging with Eriko. Thank you!
