I have been working as a teacher and examiner of German for 10 years. I work in Essen and Bochum currently. I use Kahoot-Quiz and different other apps as a teaching tool along with other required softwares.

I started teaching the people I have met during my travels and it has been very rewarding to see them making progress and achieving their goals. That is exactly the reason why I decided to become an online teacher.

I like to build long-term relations with my students (some students stay with me for years, which I consider to be the best proof of their satisfaction). However, I also prepare for language exams (which is usually unfortunately shorter cooperation yet also a fruitful one). I also teach kids (I have the most experience with 10+).

I've been tutoring for over 7 years now ever since I was a high school student myself. First, I was doing private tutoring in English, German, French, Maths and Sciences. Then, after finishing my BA in English and American Studies and Business Studies in 2017 and completing my CELTA, I moved to Brighton (England) for one year to work as an English teacher at a language school. Now I'm back in Germany to finish my Masters in Linguistics and learn as much as I can about languages and culture.

Während des Unterrichts versuche ich entspannt die Dinge zu erläutern (selbstredend nicht so, dass alle einschlafen) und die freundliche Atmosphäre zu bewahren. Wichtig ist für mich auch, dass sich jeder frei fühlt und sich nicht scheut seine Gedanken auf Deutsch auszudrücken oder die entstehenden Fragen zu stellen.

I have tutored for two years at the College of Charleston in German, French and Portuguese, as well as taught the beginning conversation courses for Portuguese students. During these positions, I worked a lot with textbooks and lesson plans, but I normally will adapt the students wants and needs to make sure they feel at ease and comfortable in order to learn the best they possibly can. As stated, my current work is with professionals, but I have experience with various profiles and am trained to work with students of various cultural backgrounds, learning styles, and ages. In addition, I can proficiently explain grammar in Spanish, Italian, Polish, and Dutch apart from my C2 languages.

I try to make my lessons fun and enjoyable. In our first lesson we will get to know each other and decide together how we want to design our lessons. We will make various exercises which will be based on your level and your skills. The lessons should match your expectations and if you like to change something or to practice some skills more specifically, we will do so. I also like to give homework, if that is fine by you.

I am a very committed and serious person. AND while being committed to me it is essential to have FUN! :-) Because when I enjoy what I do I can spend even more energy on it and keep my levels high. During my career, I've studied English, Spanish, German and I learnt the basis of French on my own. I graduated in Languages and Cultures of South Asia (University of Venice) and I completed my MA in Communication, Literatures, and Media in South Asia (University of Heidelberg, Germany). Studying very different linguistic varieties such as Hindi, Hebrew and Urdu I improved both linguistic skills and more efficient learning methodologies: for this reason, I could assist students with difficult tasks and tutoring new beginners during each semester. Therefore, I have more experience with academic learning, teaching and translations.

I believe I am good at teaching at all age ranges and all levels. If you want to improve your language skills by learning the key points of the daily language, then you're at the right address. We will go through everything you need in detail at the pace you want to proceed. I believe the most important thing while learning a new language is your self-confidence. Gaining that self-confidence is not that easy but don't worry together we will overcome every issue that you are tackling.

I like to make the classes student-centered: What do you as a student need to advance? How would you like to spend your lesson? I would like to focus on conversations, reading texts, pronounciation and basic grammar topics. I am still educating myself on grammar topics in the german language.
