I have taught English in the Dominican Republic to children in an orphanage, as well as I have experience teaching Spanish and Italian to classmates and friends who need help.

I became a teacher to share my passion for languages with the world. I want everyone to realise how much fun you can have learning a new language. It is easier than you think. As a teacher I’m guided by a line from Don Quijote, “Cada uno es hijo de sus obras.” (“We are all the children of our accomplishments.”) and an anthropological observation that “education is identity change.” Learning is more than the acquisition of new skills, it’s the emergence of a new identity. I first saw it in my dissertation research, and then I began to see it everywhere. Learning anything new, especially another language, means becoming someone new. I have taught English for more than 5 years now. I'm an ELICOS teacher in Melbourne, Australia at the moment. As a classroom teacher, I deal with adult international students. My students come from a diverse background: South America, Europe, Asia, Middle East and India.

I am very flexible as a teacher. I have given lessons in which we have just had a conversation, which is always great, but I have also given many lessons in which I help students with high level academic writing, such as Masters university essays and business reports. How your lessons are structured is up to you! I have had some students studying for IELTS and have helped them to overcome some difficulties and their own nervousness, particularly with speaking and writing. I have enabled them to practise talking about the sorts of topics that you'll be asked about in IELTS, and received positive feedback from my students, including one who scored a 7 in IELTS in 2018.

Learning foreign languages is my great passion. I speak or learn several of them. I know how important it is to practice speaking. Not everybody is lucky to have native speakers at hand. From time to time I help some of my friends living abroad to improve their Polish. I myself use italki to practice Italian and Arabic. I asked myself: why not help others with their Polish through italki? So I decided to become a tutor. I will do my best to do it in a funny, engaging and stress-free way. Here in China I found a lot of people, both kids and adults that wanted to speak or learn from foreigners. As such I slowly learned how to teach people. Now I feel confident to teach English as well as Dutch. Teaching is a lot of fun to me, seeing students grow from beginners into full native speakers is great. I usually teach gradually from the basic and simple things to more complicated structures trying to develop all four forms of language application - speaking, understanding of speech, reading and writing but giving more time to what requires more attention. I aslo try to find out the reason why a student wants to learn language out of which a certain aim can be formed and then I try to adjust lessons to achieving this aim.
