My name is Kseniia and I am 27 years old. Originally I am Russian, but currently, I live in San Diego, California. I started learning languages at the age of 5. Even at this early age I was surrounded by foreign movies, songs and books, which I wish I could understand, so it became my main motivation in learning languages. Later on, I studied French, Korean and Japanese, but wherever I went, I always felt the importance of the ability to speak English. After working for 4 years as a translator and interpreter, I realized that people who can speak multiple languages are usually more successful in their career or business, so I developed an enthusiasm for helping them learn languages.

教学经验

At the moment I am teaching General Russian and Business Russian. I prepare students for traveling and communicating with foreigners or moving to a Russian-speaking country. For those who study Business Russian my short-term goal is to give them enough knowledge to effectively communicate with their business partners, prepare for a job interview or get ready to start working in an international company. I want to encourage my students to use Russian more in their everyday activities such as watching movies, reading newspapers, listening to music in Russian. All this will contribute to their further personal development and broaden their horizons.

My teaching style is based on the Communicative Approach. I believe that no matter what the final goal of learning a foreign language is, communication skill should be taught first and foremost. Thus, it is important to identify student’s objectives and develop all four skills (Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing) equally. I teach adults who usually can tell me their goal in studying language, so I always use authentic materials, such as videos, music, newspaper articles or books to meet my students’ needs and allow them to get an idea what else they can use language for.
