My name is Oliver and I am based in Manchester in the UK. I have taught Academic and General English in the UK, Saudi Arabia and Iraq. I have considerable experience preparing students for and conducting language examinations and assessments including IELTS and International GCSEs. I have worked in customer service and university recruitment roles, and as a Parliamentary Assistant in the UK. I am currently studying for a postgraduate degree in Social Work. In my free time, I love natural landscapes, historic cities, visiting new countries and wildlife. I have visited 80+ countries so far and aim to bring enthusiasm, interest and awareness into all of my interactions with other people.

I have nine years of professional teaching experience in a range of settings. In addition to my undergraduate degree from Edinburgh University in the UK, I am CELTA qualified. Saudi Arabia: teaching on different university Preparatory Year Programmes (PYP), exam preparation classes (IELTS) and training government employees. I helped prepare university students for participation in public speaking and Model United Nations conferences. Iraq: teaching General English classes at a language centre, ranging from starter to upper intermediate levels and exam preparation. I have extensive experience conducting and preparing students for interviews, language assessments and examinations.

My lessons are student-centred and designed around the needs of the student. In my experience, students are usually the experts in their own lives and learning styles. I see my role as being to support the learning process and draw upon my experience teaching and examining in different settings. As the teacher, I want the experience to be as enjoyable and meaningful as possible and to support people to realise their full potential. I work with students to identify their needs and goals, and what we can do to reach that point together.
