I hit that language learning brick wall two weeks ago where I couldn’t possibly fathom how I was going to ever learn Croatian. Informal Tutoring

If you don't like textbooks or boring grammar studies then learning English through projects is a course for you. Take your focus off of grammar and just enjoy using the language in a fun and relaxed way.  

Learning is more effective when language is learned and used in context, especially the one we create ourselves. What you learn this way will stick better in your mind. 

You can choose any project you want and I will create supporting materials to help us along the way. Here are some examples:

LITERARY PROJECT:  a book in English that we read and discuss. This is great for building vocabulary and offers a good starting point for many discussions. It is also a wonderful way to learn about English history and culture. Don't think you need to be an upper-intermediate or advanced student to enjoy English books! There is a lot of authentic material beginners can use as well. I can recommend something appropriate for your level. 

WRITING PROJECT: we can create our own story or write a "learning journal". Writing is often neglected when learning a language but it is the only other productive skill (besides speaking) that helps you activate your vocabulary and grammar use. Have in mind that I have an unusual way of correcting the texts which will make this process fun and engaging for you. 

AUDIO PROJECT: listening to podcasts to build vocabulary, learn colloquial expressions and strengthen your listening skills. Listening is as essential as speaking when you are trying to have a conversation with a native speaker because you will have to understand what they are saying in order to participate comfortably in the dialogue. I have a selection of fun exercises and an even larger library of podcasts and audio files that we can use for this purpose.  
 
OTHER: if you have an idea of your own we can start from there and build something that is really unique!

ENGLISH through projects - all levels

If you don’t feel very comfortable when speaking in English and you’d like to change that in the fastest possible time, this course is for you. This is a structured course, so there will be a balanced mix of select exercises and free speaking activities to help you progress through your speaking blocks. In the first lesson, I usually make an assessment of your current skills and devise a plan to get you to the next level. During and after each lesson I provide detailed feedback and corrections as well as homework! Don’t worry, it all sounds very serious but it is actually quite a lot of fun!

ENGLISH - Speak with ease! - all levels

This course is perfect for students who want a more guided approach in developing their language skills in a balanced way. It includes homework and materials that will strengthen what was learned in class. It is suitable for all levels and each class is tailor made to help you progress even further in your studies.

FIRST LESSON - You will receive a link to a Google Form to fill out. This helps me get a better idea of your current level, main challenges and basic interests. I want to get to know you so I can help you improve and make lessons interesting to you!   
 
PROFESSIONAL LESSONS - These are guided lessons. I select the materials, give you homework, correct it and create a program for us to follow. This doesn’t mean I bore you with grammar. All my lessons are based on conversation and speaking first! Always!
 
INFORMAL TUTORING - You are in charge and you set the direction and pace of our lessons. Choose a  topic, select the material and bring it to class or just stop by for a spontaneous chat. I will still provide detailed feedback during our lesson and point out areas that need more work.
 
BEGINNERS - So the journey begins! Don’t be afraid. Everybody starts at this level. Everybody. We’ll start with a basic introduction and build from there. I’m very patient and I have experience with absolute beginners so all you need to do is show up.
 
INTERMEDIATE - Aha, the plot thickens! This stage of language learning can be frustrating. It feels like you’re almost there but not quite yet? You are more confident when you speak but sometimes it seems as if you are not moving forward at all? Let me show you what can be done to overcome these challenges. We’ll have fun, I promise!
 
ADVANCED - Now the game is on! My one and only goal is to keep coming up with ways to challenge and inspire you even more. It’s time to fully enjoy all aspects of this wonderful language that you are now quite comfortable with and pretty successful in using.
