I am a certified CELTA English teacher and Welsh for Adults tutor. I've worked as a freelance 1-1 Welsh tutor since 2015, teaching both face to face, online and in small groups. I currently work with Cymraeg i Oedolion (Welsh for Adults) in North West Wales and as a Language Development Officer with the Welsh Language Project in Patagonia, Argentina.

I'm an experienced teacher, both in school and one to one. I taught mathematics in secondary schools for two years, and I've also given private tuition in various subjects since then. I'm also a qualified Welsh/English translator. I speak Welsh as it's spoken in North Wales, and whether you've just started learning Welsh or are ready for a new challenge, I'm keen to help you on your way. As for my English lessons, I'm a native speaker of British English, and a confident communicator in various professional settings.

I have spent 14 years teaching mathematics and during that time, I've on and off taught Welsh to adults. I see myself as a non-formal language coach to my friends and family. I'm always encouraging them to pick up a language or send their kids to Welsh school or giving them tips on how to keep going or tips on how to best learn a language. First and foremost I am a learner who enjoys learning languages as a hobby. So I understand the frustrations and challenges faced by students when they try to mesh the theoretical aspects of acquisition with the realities of speaking practice. I have written a language course for those tackling German and my approach with beginners is to introduce new language in a very structured way and to prioritise patterns above vocabulary, at least at the start. For more advanced students I am happy to select materials based on their interests. I always try to put people at ease and believe that learning should be an enjoyable as well as enriching experience.

I have a TEFL (120 hour) certificate from TEFL Worldwide Prague. My teaching experience is: 16 months as an Assistant Language Teacher in Japan, teaching children 10-15 beginner English, as well as running private classes for adults from pre-intermediate to upper-intermediate. 4 years in Prague with adults of all levels, including exam prep and business English, and 9 months teaching Business English in England. I have been teaching English and Welsh over Skype for 8 years. I generally don't teach children now, sorry :)
