Ho studiato per 5 anni latino e greco al liceo, dove la grammatica era al centro dell'attenzione, con l'esperienza ho però capito che per iniziare ad apprendere una nuova lingua (cosa che ho sperimentato con l'inglese e lo spagnolo) è importante avere un ruolo attivo nell'apprendimento. In fondo, Leggere libri e siti in italiano non è poi così complicato, Scrivere email e documenti di lavoro già presuppone una maggiore conoscenza della lingua, ma Parlare italiano… beh, è tutta un’altra storia e richiede un approccio ad hoc. Il Listening (l’ascolto della lingua) non basta: se vuoi davvero imparare a parlare in italiano devi fare pratica.

Passo dalla grammatica ad insegnare a cucinare l'amatriciana! Amo insegnare l'italiano e seguo sempre ciò che mi chiede lo studente. Mi concentro tantissimo sia nella preparazione delle lezioni e sia nella lezione stessa. Ho un'alta formazione di grammatica e letteratura italiana e latina, oltre che scientifica, perciò sono molto versatile. Sono molto disponibile a cambiare il mio modus operandi della lezione in base alle esigenze dello studente e al tipo di memoria che ha.

I consider myself a language tutor. In my opinion, the best way to learn a language is to jump in and try to speak it right away, so my approach is not academic but starts from the practice of conversation. Più che un insegnante preferisco definirmi come un tutor linguistico. Credo che il modo migliore per imparare una lingua sia quello di buttarsi e provare a parlarla da subito, per questo il mio approccio non è accademico ma parte dalla pratica della conversazione.

Patience and understanding are my traits, dialogue for me is fundamental. I always try to meet my students halfway. Irony for is the key to success when it comes to teaching, but of course I never lose track my (and your) goals!

I tend to be demanding with my students, but laid-back at the same time. I want my students to make the best, pressuring the students so as they can achieve their goals. I am also very accommodating, adapting my way of teaching and the language of instruction (Italian, English or Spanish) according to the preferences of the student. I am quite honest. This means that I might sound a bit direct sometimes, but when I tell you "your Italian has really improved! You could even have a job interview now!", well, I really mean it. So you best believe it!

Sono un insegnante molto affabile e cordiale. Cerco sempre di mettere a proprio agio lo studente, impostando la conversazione e le lezioni su argomenti che possano stimolarne l'interesse e la concentrazione. Ciò che mi spinge invece ad insegnare è il desiderio di stare a contatto con culture diverse dalla mia.

I truly love teaching and find it so exciting to watch my students make progress. I am very versatile and I have experience teaching students ages 3 to 80! I started tutoring college level students while I was in grad school and have continued to teach adults. I know what it's like to be a beginner student so I am extremely patient and I like to keep things fun and lighthearted!

I am extremely patient and sociable. If you want to improve your listening skills, I can be very talkative. If you want to improve your speaking skills, I am all ears and I will help you correct your mistakes.

The ability to speak correctly and with a good pronunciation is the most significative and fulfilling skill you will ever get, while learning a new language. That's why I organise each lesson as guided dialogue. This allows us to train at once each aspect of the language: grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, listening. Moreover, it boosts speed of learning and improves mnemonic processes.

Sono un'insegnante precisa e voglio essere certa che i miei studenti vivano il processo di apprendimento in modo divertente. Credo sia fondamentale che essi si sentano incoraggiati ed assistiti, ma sopratutto mai giudicati, poiché l'errore deve essere un punto di partenza utile per imparare. I've a background of studies on Humanities, so I'm very competent in my language. But let better speak my students about me as a teacher! As a tutor, I help beginner and intermediate students who are mostly focused on improving their Italian speaking skills. I enjoy having conversations and try my best to be clear and thorough in explaining how to better express oneself to sound as fluent and natural as possible. I'm usually pretty agreeable.

I'm a very friendly and chill guy, which I think you'll be able to see as soon as we meet. I am very passionate about what I do and the best reward for me would be to pass on this passion of mine to you and to keep learning as I teach.

In November 2017 I obtained the certification "DITALS Level I" which qualifies me to teach Italian as a foreign language or second language to foreign adults (18 years and older) of any nationality and for any level you choose to reach. I attended a 30-hour training course at the Accademia Italiana in Salerno (a Ditals-certified institution) where I did an 82-hour internship in Italian classes for foreigners. Since then I have had many teaching experiences. In addition, with the onset of the pandemic, I did 80 hours of online teaching at a private school of Italian for foreigners to prepare for distance teaching, mainly via Zoom and Skype.
