I have 6 years of corporate HR experience before I qualified as a teacher. Once qualified I taught at a state aided school for 2 years. I have also taught online for 1 and a half years. I always come across as very friendly and approachable to all my students.

I just returned from China where I was living and teaching for 6 years. I worked in different training centers with different age groups and also gave 1 to 1 class.

I have taught English for ten years in three different countries: Taiwan, Germany and Turkey. Each place presented students with contrasting learning styles and in each place I taught learners of different levels. I find Beginners fun to teach because I can play games and address a variety of useful language topics with them, but more advanced learners are also appealing simply because we can cover a greater variety of real-world material. I acquired a CELTA certificate in 2015, and currently I am working on the DELTA.

I received my bachelor’s degree in Literature from the University of the Philippines Visayas. I've been working as an online ESL teacher for a decade. In addition, I've proofread the dissertations of some graduate students at Yonsei University in South Korea. My passion for teaching English stems from my sheer interest in helping others understand the language in a clear, fun way. I am a very patient teacher. I have watched how students learn and the learners skill will set the pace and focus. A person can only learn effectively if they are relaxed and that is what I aim to focus on. Lessons can be laid back, more focused on conversational practice, or more intense- with focus on creating increased awareness of difficulties in speech or understanding.

I have been delivering one on one sessions online for around 6 years and I have learnt a lot of things from my students in that time. In particular, I am interested in offering students basic cultural knowledge and understanding, so that they may understand the references and tone of a conversation between native speakers. I also believe that in an increasingly integrated world, in which questions of politics, music, sport and culture happen on a global level, students should feel able to participate in those conversations. I am also keen on the art of error correction - when to correct and when not to correct.
