Tengo experiencia enseñando a amigos de varias partes del mundo como Canadá, India y Australia. Con la experiencia de ayudar a mis amigos me di cuenta de que me llena de satisfacción enseñarles, y creo que soy naturalmente paciente en el ámbito de la enseñanza, por lo que es un ganar-ganar para ambas partes.

I teach Spanish and English. I also can speak French and Italian so I can help you in these languages if needed. Learning a foreign language is not as difficult as people usually say. It only takes practice, patience and compromise to get to learn, write and speak well... I've been a teacher and a tutor for 10 years now and, during this time, I've concluded that having a great time is the best way to learn. So, be prepared to share your interests and practice while talking about different topics, especially those you care about. You know, learning a foreign language is getting to know and experience a brand new culture... It's like a whole new universe opening in front of us.

I've always been fascinated by languages! When I was in school, I provided private and group tutoring to different students in different areas: English, Spanish, Mathematics and Physics. In my university I've also helped some fellow students in different subjects, including English. Besides, 5 years ago I had the chance to take part in a volunteering project that helped foreigners learn Spanish in Antigua Guatemala. Every experience has taught me a lot :) I decided to become a tutor because I think the best way to learn about the world is by teaching other people what you yourself know :)

In 2011 I signed up at the Teaching Training College, where not only did I learn about languages but also about pedagogy. For this reason, I always design meaningful lessons based on the communicative approach and the four skills (Reading, writing, speaking and listening). These lessons are always prepared taking into consideration the interests of the learner and the objectives set to improve any aspect of the language. Besides, I try to create a good and comfortable atmosphere where the learner feels free of making mistakes and they are seen as a way to improve the learning path.

I have been an English and Spanish teacher since 2007 and I have worked in several private and public institutions. I have a bachelor’s degree in English and Spanish teaching from Universidad Pedagogica Nacional and I am currently living in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where I work as an English teacher. I taught English to college students from 2008 to 2015, and I also taught English literature and directed a few language immersions at the universities I worked at. From 2015 to 2018, I lived in Washington DC and worked as a History/Spanish teacher at a bilingual multicultural school where I had the chance to teach students not only from the US but also from Central America, Africa and Asia.

I try my best to adapt to the level and skills of the student. Though this can sound scary, especially for beginners, my priority is to talk in the language the student is learning, and if possible, that the student does most of the talking. I have been a modern foreign language teacher (French, Spanish, and English) for nearly two decades. I started my teaching career as a business language instructor in the oil and gas industry before moving to teach in international schools in 2004. Since then, I have worked with children aged 3-18 (i.e., pre-school through high school). I am state certified to teach French, Spanish, and English to students of all ages, and as part of that process, I have passed state, national, and international background checks. For over a decade now, I have also worked as a trainer for modern foreign language teachers and to date, I have trained over a thousand teachers in more than sixty countries.

I consider myself to be a patient and empathetic teacher with a pretty good sense of humour. I believe that apart from linguistic knowledge, confidence plays an important role when communicating in a different language. I studied Translation and Interpreting at university, and I speak English and French. Although in my lessons I speak just Spanish, sometimes using other languages may be useful. But above all, having studied languages helps me to put myself in my students’ place. I have taken many different language pedagogy courses. I have been working in a language school in Madrid for five years, and since then I have had students from many different countries and all levels.
