My name is Anita, and I am Portuguese. I am a Portuguese and English teacher. I'm a native Portuguese teacher and an experienced and certified English teacher. I'm comfortable teaching different levels and my goal is to make learning fun and useful.

I am a TEFL qualified English Teacher with over 2 years of teaching experience. I teach General English as well as IELTS and TOEFL preparation courses to students of different levels. I am also a Mandarin Chinese teacher with a bachelor's degree in Chinese Language, Literature and Translation. I have been living in China for 5 years now and have been speaking Chinese every day. So I can teach you real Chinese, not only the one from the textbook :) I also teach HSK preparation course. As for Russian, I am a native speaker and I offer conversation practice classes for those who want to improve their speaking skills and learn to communicate with a real Russian speaker.

For over 10 years, I have been helping students from all over the world to gain confidence in their English abilities. In addition to teaching English, I also teach Arabic in my community. I have vast experience working as a translator and interpreter. I'm a native English speaker and have extensive experience in teaching reading skills, grammar, speaking, comprehension, as well as proofreading. I have taught in-person for many years and have also taught thousands of online lessons. I'm happy to help anyone who wants to learn English. I can help you to prepare for tests. I have my BA from Bellarmine University and hold an Advanced Certificate for Teaching English as a Foreign Language. Learning a new language is one of the most incredible ways to learn about people, explore new ways of thinking and challenge yourself to be better. As a teacher, I believe that it's my responsibility to help my students find their motivation and make their English language learning journey fun, engaging and attainable. I have worked in education for the last six years and have taught English to non-native speakers in Ukraine and online. I have experience teaching advanced speakers and complete beginners. I started to teach 5 years ago in Spain and it was a total coincidence and since then I love it. After 3 years of teaching in Spain I decided to go to Australia, where I did my CAE certificate and I obtained TESOL and TECSOL certificate for English teachers. I worked with students all ages from 5 months to 66 years old, all different levels ( beginners to advance). I worked as a teacher in Spain, Australia and China. I really enjoy teaching and I don´t want to do anything else in my life. I always have an amazing connection with my students. It is important to create an excellent atmosphere in my classroom.

It's been a while since I've started teaching. Since May 2021 it's been 6 years that I'm a teacher and although my young age, I already have a lot of experience. What is conversation? Conversation is many things. Chatting with a friend in a coffee shop is conversation, but so is giving your boss a project update. Giving an informal talk to a group of fellow students or a service club is conversation, but so is giving a formal presentation (even if you do not take questions afterwards). I believe that the most important thing about conversation is communicating clearly. The best way to improve your communication is practice and that's what I am here for.

I have tutored for two years at the College of Charleston in German, French and Portuguese, as well as taught the beginning conversation courses for Portuguese students. During these positions, I worked a lot with textbooks and lesson plans, but I normally will adapt the students wants and needs to make sure they feel at ease and comfortable in order to learn the best they possibly can. As stated, my current work is with professionals, but I have experience with various profiles and am trained to work with students of various cultural backgrounds, learning styles, and ages. In addition, I can proficiently explain grammar in Spanish, Italian, Polish, and Dutch apart from my C2 languages.

I am a language student myself and used to be painfully shy when speaking a foreign language. I didn't let that stop me though! I figured out that the hardest part of speaking any foreign language is starting. The fear of failure can be terrifying but finding a teacher that you feel comfortable speaking to can make all the difference. In my classes, mistakes are encouraged as they are what we learn from. We all make mistakes but languages are a tool for communication with others most importantly and I believe that comfort - not perfection- is key. As a teacher I'm am constantly trying to find better ways to help my students, including recently finishing my TEFL certification.
