I am a licensed EFL teacher and specialize in grammar and accent reduction. I've been helping my students prepare for EIKEN ever since I came to Japan. I myself had to take TOEFL iBT back when I was applying to the University of Minnesota and I easily got 110 points which is the equivalent of EIKEN 1. Active discussion is the key to fluency. My lessons are 75% discussion. I strongly encourage my students to ask as many questions as possible, the trick is to form the questions on the spot, not beforehand - that's a key to have a 'live' conversation and not a parody from a textbook.
