I am a firm believer in making learning - especially language learning - fun and am convinced that with this, dedication and immersion you can get pretty much anywhere in a language! But also: don't be afraid to mess up! Everybody makes mistakes when getting into a new language (I've been there), and sometimes it will seem like you'll never stop making the same mistakes, but I am happy to help and go over things multiple times.

Ich gebe seit meinem Studienabschluss (Meisterschülerin) als Malerin entsprechenden Unterricht und war auch Dozentin an einer Kunsthochschule in Norddeutschland. My experience in teaching comes through my work in the field of art. I'm running a private Art Academy. Since finishing my university degree in the art of painting I'm giving classes in that field. I also used to work for an art school (university) in Northern Germany.

I see the ideal teaching session as a conversation. I make sure all my students know they are in an environment where they can practice their English and improve it without fear of being judged. For several years now, I have had numerous video calls with people from many countries of all continents including a lot of English, French and Spanish native speakers, practising my own foreign languages and helping them to improve their German. So if you speak any of the languages mentioned above, I can assure you that I am very well aware of the typical challenges you encounter with regards to German grammar and pronunciation. I prefer an informal and relaxed teaching style. Besides my passion for languages, I enjoy reading, running, travelling, photography, psychology, philosophy, learning about different lifestyles and cultures, and many more.

My main concern is that you get out of the lessons what you expect and what your goal is.

Since 2007, I have been teaching German as a foreign language in Taipei, Taiwan to Chinese native speakers. Because I had had an interest in the Chinese language and culture for many years, in 2005 I moved to Taiwan to learn Mandarin Chinese. At some point during my stay I had to start looking for work and ended up teaching German at a local language center. Right from the start I loved teaching German and since then have kept on working as a language instructor with a passion, gaining experience over the years and keeping up with improving my skills and expanding my knowledge up to this day.

I have done a lot of language and linguistics related things at university, and I have worked part-time as a language teacher and tutor since the age of 16, gradually moving into more challenging positions, like teaching German to immigrants and business people, and tutoring university students in Latin and Ancient Greek. I have never formally qualified as a teacher, but I take teaching very seriously - while making it fun and inspiring at the same time! :)

I like to teach beginners (A1 to B1) and help them make their first steps in German or English. I am very patient and supportive, so there is absolutely no need to be nervous. It is your class and we create it as useful and fun as possible for you! I have a 150 hours TESOL certificate and more than 4 years of experience teaching German.

I already have experience teaching students and adults and have a lot of fun to get to know new people from lots of different places and converse with you about your interests, your opinions and your culture while teaching you German. I like to prepare classes individually for my students to keep the motivation going. As well I try to form a positive environment, so you feel comfortable.

I come from a family of teachers. I had several opportunities to teach English to primary school classes. In my time as an Au pair in the USA, I also had my host kids as my first German students.

I was certified as a TEFL teacher in England. Since then, I have taught at all levels and all ability groups and ran numerous workshops. I had the chance to live in different countries and I discovered, getting to know a culture is a way into learning a new language. I also cooperate with Leibniz University Hannover as a tutor.

Heads up – I am a strict teacher! No slagging, no "I-can't's". Everyone can learn a language. I work with students who are motivated, who know why they learn and who really want to see results. This means intense practice during classes and homework. If you don't have time for homework, please let me know and we will find a solution together. >> For General lessons I normally use a textbook (or several textbooks) as the basis. We work with GoogleDocs, recordings, YouTube videos and other materials as necessary. >> Conversational Classes are free flow. >> During Interpreting/Translation classes we learn to make glossaries and work with videos, recordings, texts and speeches.
