I studied science and technology at the Leeuwenborgh institute In the Netherlands and my job was training new employers to get ready for their job. In Thailand I started to teach at the local primary school of my village. I enjoyed it so much that I decided to get my TEFL certificate and did additional courses for natural learning, specially for kindergarten kids. I have experience teaching at kindergarten, primary school and secondary school as well as in business English.

After obtaining TEFL Certification from the Language Institute at Chiang Mai University I taught classes at Pro Language Chiang Mai in 2008. I remained there until returning home from Thailand in February of 2009. Since then I have done private English tutoring in Thailand, Mexico, and United States.

I like teaching beginners because I feel like I can help them a lot with the basics, but I also love working with advanced students because we can have a lot of interesting conversations. Since moving to the Philippines, I have learned what it means to need a new language for everyday life. I know what it's like to understand what you hear and then be unable to respond. I appreciate that an intelligent person, who has a great vocabulary in their native language, may feel frustrated when they struggle to say something in their second language. I understand how it feels to be unable to show your personality because you cannot think of the right words. I want to help every person who takes a lesson from me feel more comfortable using what they know, and I want to be a part of their continued growth. I understand what my students need because I am a student.

I’ve taught various groups: from kindergarten all the way up to post-graduate. A teacher should always study and continue to learn. So through my career I’ve gathered many certificates, diplomas and other documents including TOEFL Test preparation, First Certificate, Advanced Reading, Teaching by Competences, etc. Graduated with a minor in Human Resources, I’ve also studied ESL for business skills like job interviews, accounting, importing and exporting in North America, and customer service.

I have been teaching English since 1999 and shortly after obtained my CELTA (Cambridge English Language Teaching Accreditation) teaching qualification. I have taught in five different countries= the UK, Spain, Hungary, Vietnam and Malaysia; presently I am living in Budapest, Hungary. My motivation for teaching?
