Seit meiner ersten Unterrichtserfahrung vor nunmehr 10 Jahren weiß ich, dass ich Deutsch unterrichten will. Mittlerweile habe ich Erfahrung in Deutschland, Italien, Österreich, Spanien und Großbritannien gesammelt und mit den unterschiedlichsten Zielgruppen gearbeitet. Zu meinen Schülerinnen und Schülern gehörten Kinder, Jugendliche, Studenten und Erwachsene auf allen Niveaustufen. Ich sehe mich nicht nur als Sprachlehrende, sondern auch als Vermittlerin landeskundlicher Aspekte und als zertifizierte Goethe- Telc- und TestDaF-Prüferin und -Bewerterin gehört auch Prüfungsvorbereitung zu meinem Repertoire.

I am a very calm person which enables me to fully point my attention towards the student. I strive to cater my student with topics according to their levels. Never too easy, but just right to make my students sweat a little. I know how to motivate students in the right moments, in order for them to have fun while learning and having a guaranteed stamina. Because it for sure takes work to learn a language, and I would love to help others reaching their goals.

I have helped many people learn languages and did it as a part-time job in my years of High School. Since I also did an exchange to the US, I am fully capable of speaking English as well which will help me translate it to international students from all over the world.

I am an open minded and patient teacher. Communication and the active use of new vocabulary is one of the most important factors when acquiring a new language. This is the reason I focus on speaking during my lessons. Materials like books, audio, grammar worksheets and themed vocabulary lists will accompany us during our lessons and make the learning process easier and more fun. As I am from northern Germany, I have a big advantage over other German teachers. I speak "Hochdeutsch", which is a dialect and accent free version of German. Everybody will be able to understand you and you will be capable of understanding everyone, when you learn with me. Especially in the south and east people have strong dialects, which are not very easy to understand, even for natives. As I am becoming a teacher myself and am studying this subject at the university, I know what is important and what is not, in order to learn German fluently.

Languages and teaching have always played a major role in my life. My first teaching experiences go back to when I was 12 years old, I helped friends with French. At the age of 15, it was drawings for art classes, and later on English and German. As a linguist at the university, the seminars were a bit more theoretical, but not only. Seminars such as Old English or The Development of Languages were actually quite practical in nature. Since I was also responsible for the training of future teachers, I did a lot of research in the field of second language acquisition, which influenced my own teaching style a lot.

I am new to teaching, which is why I have set the price quite low. Nevertheless, I will try very hard and grow up together with you. Let's start this journey together. I've been giving Math, Geography and English lessons during high school. So I am familiar with different types of students and teaching styles. I learned German myself just by using italki and have met several teachers, both professional and community tutors, and not just with native speakers, but also with non-natives. So I combine all the methods I've seen and put my own ones on the top in my lessons. I believe that the teacher is the person who motivates you and provides you with materials. I am a very intuitive person and also very communicative. For me the essence of really mastering a language is showing in conversation and communication. That's why I focus on strengthening the confidence and comfort speaking the language the most. Of course I get into grammar, vocabulary and expression, but I take a playful approach with exercises and talking about your interests and areas you want to improve in.
