Since finishing my postgrad studies fifteen years ago, I have taught English both in South-East Asia and in England. Over time, I have come to focus on adult education, and in particular, on teaching lower intermediate to advanced level students.

As a community tutor, I help identify my students' English and Tagalog goals whether for writing or speaking. I would like to help find efficient and fun ways that will help them overcome the challenges they are facing using the said languages.

I've helped students successfully Interview and write CVs for new jobs since teaching on iTalki. I've also helped students greatly improve their speaking and general English skills. I will help you learn English by using a different subject you are passionate about; if for example you enjoy cooking, our lessons will focus on restaurants, recipes and food. You will learn faster by using a topic you are already interested in. I’ve taught TESOL in Taiwan for 9 years to students of all ages. I love to learn and share the knowledge I’ve acquired with my students.

I have been teaching English for over 20 years, and Macedonian and Serbian for about 5 years. My classes are student centered, so my priority is to assess what the students need and what their learning style is. Once I find out what is important for the students, I tailor my lessons to them and personalize my instruction. The most important factor for me in learning languages is to enjoy and have fun during the process.

I have been teaching online since 2016. Additionally, I graduated in Travel and Tourism Management with First Class Honours Degree at the University of Derby in the UK. Good communication, good articulation mean a lot to me. No matter how much you know, how much you have acquired, if you are not good at articulating yourself, you rock the boat especially in teaching. As once a great Farsi writer living in this country (Rumi) said "...You can only explain as much as who listens to you can understand." In that sense Teaching is always more than transmitting knowledge. A teacher always represents an identity regardless of different learning settings. Looking upon my student years, teachers whom I admire are not those who perhaps know the most but the ones who could express themselves the best.

I have a B.A. in English for Cross-Cultural Communication with a qualification of a teacher and a master's degree in Mediation and Communication with specialization in translation studies. I've worked as a teacher in a youth center in Armenia and taught online in a Russian language school called ''Skyeng''. Now I work in HBLS, a language school in Brussels. I've worked with people of different age groups and different levels of language proficiency. I usually motivate my students and try my best to engage them in the learning process. It's a real blast for me to monitor my students' progress.

I’ve been teaching Farsi, English and Spanish since 2009. After teaching different students and trying various methods, I have come to believe everyone learns through their own unique way. Therefore, I would love to take the time to understand how my students learn and to use that knowledge to expedite their improvement. I am a very sociable person and my students have mostly found it easy to communicate with me which makes me a perfect teacher for discussion and conversation classes.

I am a language student myself and used to be painfully shy when speaking a foreign language. I didn't let that stop me though! I figured out that the hardest part of speaking any foreign language is starting. The fear of failure can be terrifying but finding a teacher that you feel comfortable speaking to can make all the difference. In my classes, mistakes are encouraged as they are what we learn from. We all make mistakes but languages are a tool for communication with others most importantly and I believe that comfort - not perfection- is key. As a teacher I'm am constantly trying to find better ways to help my students, including recently finishing my TEFL certification.

Growing up, I always helped my classmates with English tests and later on I started teaching children in my hometown English. Teaching has been such a fulfilling experience; for me, learning is a two way street. Every student I’ve had has taught me something different and has helped me grow as a person. I think everyone learns at their own pace, this is why I like getting to know my students in order to tailor my lessons to a style and speed that’s best for them.

I do not use traditional language learning methods to learn languages or to teach them. They do not work well. Instead, I focus on building up a fundamental foundation of vocabulary and basic grammar, and then immerse myself and students in content that is made for native speakers. This is how the native speakers learn their first language, and it is the best way to learn any foreign language. Another thing that is majorly lacking in most classroom settings is actually speaking. This will not be a problem with me as this will be the main focus point of my lessons. I am a firm believer in the fact that you need to speak a language in order to learn it effectively.
