Über mich
italki-Lehrkraft seit 12. Mar 2021
I'm from Ireland and I studied Engineering in University. I worked in a primary school in Bangkok for 6 years. I got interested in teaching English when I was travelling Australia. I live in Thailand close to the beach. I don't go to the beach very often but when I do go, I love it. Even though I've been living in Thailand for a long time I still can't eat very spicy food. I've traveled around Europe, Australia and south-east Asia. My hobbies are football, watching tv, music, UFC, cycling, reading and computer games. Sci-fi movies are my favourite but I watch lots of different types of tv. I like to read fantasy/adventure books similar to the Lord of the Rings.
Ich als Lehrkraft
I started tutoring adults when I was traveling Australia. I met so many travelers that weren't native English speakers that it became a common thing for me to explain things about the language to people. After talking to more and more people I decided to look into becoming a teacher and then I did a TEFL course. I moved to Thailand and got a job in a primary school teaching children aged 6-12 years old. I try to speak as clearly as possible. I match the level of the lesson to my student's level of English. I am a patient and friendly teacher and I am happy to help you improve your English skills. I enjoy learning about different cultures without leaving my home.
Meine Stunden und mein Unterrichtsstil
I try to be friendly and patient. I want my lessons to be relaxed and comfortable for my students. I listen to my students and I want to know what they want from their lessons. I will adjust the level of my lessons based on the ability of individual students. I am happy to take students suggestions about lessons and focus on any areas that they interested in talking about. If I can't understand something a student says I will tell the student immediately. If something a student says is difficult to understand I will tell the student and offer suggestions about better ways to say it. I write any new vocabulary words in the chat so that students can check it after the lesson is finished.
