Hi, my name is Shunpei. I am a Japanese teacher living in Tokyo. I have always been interested in learning language and have experienced the difficulties and joys of language learning. That is why I decided to teach language—to help and share with other learners. When I have time, I listen to pop music and sing karaoke. I also play the piano and the kokyū (a traditional Japanese string instrument). I like going to the movie theater, mainly to see Disney and Marvel movies. Lately, I’ve gotten into flower arranging which helps me relax and be creative. こんにちは、しゅんぺいです。東京に住んでいる日本人です。言葉を学ぶことは大変ですが楽しいですよね。私が言葉を教えたいと思ったのは、学ぶ人を助けたいそして一緒に楽しみたいと思ったからです。音楽を聴いたりカラオケが趣味です。ピアノや胡弓を弾きます。映画館へ行ったり花も好きです。

Ich als Lehrkraft

I lived in Canada for three years and taught at Japanese language and culture schools for children in Vancouver and Montreal. I really enjoyed teaching there and this motivated me to take Japanese language teaching classes and then pass the Japanese Language Education Proficiency Test. After getting the certificate, I started teaching Japanese. 以前３年間、カナダに住んでいました。バンクーバーとモントリオールの日本語と文化を教える学校で子供たちに日本語を教えました。それがとても楽しかったので、日本語を教える勉強をして、日本語教育能力試験を受けようと決めました。合格した後、日本語を教え始めました。

Meine Stunden und mein Unterrichtsstil

In my lessons, I use textbooks (e.g., “Minna no Nihongo Ⅰ/Ⅱ,” “Genki Ⅰ/Ⅱ,” etc.) to teach in Japanese, just like in a Japanese language school in Japan. Whether you want to practice a conversation topic of your choice or want to study business Japanese, I would like to accommodate your requests. If it’s difficult to ask questions in Japanese, you can use English. 私のレッスンでは、テキストを使って日本にある日本語学校のように、日本語で授業をします。自分が選んだ会話のトピックを練習したい方、ビジネスの日本語を勉強したい方など、リクエストにも答えたいと思います。もし、日本語で質問するのがむずかしければ、英語でも対応します。

I have now finished 40 lessons with Shunpei and have completed the Minna no Nihongo book 1 in this time. I think Shunpei is a very good teacher to keep you going while studying the material. He is clear and patient, doesn't jump in to correct you but allows you to work it out yourself with gentle hints. Equally, he won't let you struggle if you really can't remember something. I also like that he will add to the source material and get you to talk about your life regarding the current grammar/vocab. I feel I have improved a lot with his guidance and will continue to study with Shunpei. ありがとうございます
