Über mich
italki-Lehrkraft seit 25. May 2020
I am a Dutch Indian guy who went most of his life to an International School in The Hague, and as a result have a lot of cultural & social experiences because of which I can easily grasp languages and accents as well.
Ich als Lehrkraft
I started tutoring people in language and in math during my university days, and early on learned that patience is a big factor in making the student(s) learn comfortably. This comes from my experience at my secondary school where due to the high amount of cultural exchange and engagement you begin to understand that everyone has a different way of understanding things.
It is also because of these experiences that I believe that the practical sessions are a little more important than the theory aspect of things. Hence I tend to put more focus on actual practicing of the speaking by having regular conversations so people are more adept to the everyday usage of the language.
Meine Stunden und mein Unterrichtsstil
My lessons would firstly start off with a basic session of conversation so I can assess the language capability of the student, and hear out their concerns and eventual goals.
The subsequent lessons would be based upon on what the student needs in terms of the theory such as grammar, but also having regular conversations about different topics such that the comfort of the language gets set. I prefer to start with practice of the language in colloquial form, and then moving on to the grammar, diction, vocabulary etc. so that we could use practical examples while explaining.
Exercises such as role play and discussing after watching a movie is also a great learning tool.
