I grew up in the United States and live in the state of Minnesota. I am a professional piano teacher. I also play guitar and write music. I love classical, jazz, and rock music. I have learned French to a conversational level, and last fall started learning Japanese. I meditate every day and am very passionate about meditation. Someday I want to be a professional meditation teacher. I try to bring meditation into my conversations and into every moment of my life. I also try to always be honest. I have spent seven months backpacking in France, Iceland, Canada, and the United States. I like to exercise and I listen to podcasts about human health. I like working on farms.
Ich als Lehrkraft
I have a lot of experience as a music teacher, but I am only now starting to teach English. I believe my experience teaching music will give me unique insights into the process of learning a language, because music is a lot like a language.
Meine Stunden und mein Unterrichtsstil
I am very flexible and will adjust my teaching style to your needs.
The first thing I will ask you is: Why do you want to learn English? In what situations will you be using English? We will practice for those situations. I will create material for you to practice that will help you learn what is most useful for your situation and needs.
One activity that is very useful is to pick an English-language movie or book that sounds interesting to you, and go through it line-by-line until you understand the whole thing and can explain the meaning of every word in every sentence. This will give you a very good understanding of the language.
