I’m interested in italki institution because it gives an opportunity to teach English to beginners and the advanced, and these are two things I value a lot – English professionals and young learners. I'm very patient, sociable, and a good listener. I have taught English to over 500 students from various parts of the world. It is my deepest desire to help us improve their English communication skills.

As a teacher I’m guided by a line from Don Quijote, “Cada uno es hijo de sus obras.” (“We are all the children of our accomplishments.”) and an anthropological observation that “education is identity change.” Learning is more than the acquisition of new skills, it’s the emergence of a new identity. I first saw it in my dissertation research, and then I began to see it everywhere. Learning anything new, especially another language, means becoming someone new. These insights continually challenge me to offer relevant instructional opportunities that allow learners to experience themselves engaging in new practices that they can then convert into newer versions of themselves.

I started teaching English because I had such a fun time learning other languages. I want to help others find the same joy learning English as I did learning Italian and German. I am patient and understanding and this is reflected in my teaching style. My students must feel comfortable and their confidence must be built up in order to become proficient speakers of English. My best quality as a teacher is the ability to recognise the individuals needs and plan my classes accordingly. Having previously taught people with no background in English whatsoever, to highly proficient speakers, my experience is notable! I adapt my lessons to the needs and interests of my learners while making my classes fun and engaging.

I have many years’ experience working with children of different ages in different capacities. For 3 years I taught children between 3-6 of different backgrounds and levels of English understanding. I had just over a year experience teaching teenagers between 12-18 doing many different activities and lessons. I also coached 15/16-year olds netball. I have au paired for a family and their main reason for employing me was to teach the children English, I used a variety of different activities to help the children improve their English skills. I started teaching as part of my university degree, which resulted in me becoming a qualified English teacher in the Netherlands. I am able to use the aspects of my upbringing to my advantage when it comes to teaching English: I am able to understand what it takes to learn English as a foreign language, while also being able to share the subtleties of the language as a native speaker.
