Hi, guys! My name is Izumi. I'm from Kumamoto, Japan. I love: - Cooking...I'm a foodie and I love trying new recipes from all over the world. I'd love to learn if you have a special recipe to share with me! ;) - Reading...I love reading both in Japanese and in English! I like reading various genres, but my biggest collection is recipe books because, again, I'm a foodie! - Dancing...Swing dance (esp. Lindy Hop!) is my passion! I'm also a very enthusiastic beginner dancer of Salsa and Bachata! I'm a very friendly person and love to talk about a lot of different things. Can't wait to see you in my lesson!

私は大学と大学院で日本語教育と言語学を勉強して、もう10年くらい日本語を教えています。アメリカとメキシコでも教えていました。今まで、留学生・会社員・主婦／主夫・高校生・大学生など、色々な国・年齢・職業の人に日本語を教えてきたので、みなさんのニーズに合わせた授業ができます。複雑な文法やことばも分かりやすく説明できます。 I studied Japanese language education and linguistics both in college and grad school, and I have been a professional Japanese teacher for about 10 years. I used to teach in the States and in Mexico. I have taught people from diverse backgrounds such as exchange students, businesspersons, homemakers, high school students, and college students. So, I can customize my curriculum to meet your specific needs. I can also explain confusing and complicated grammar/vocabulary well!

我的課程內容與教學風格

I will encourage you to speak as much in Japanese as possible during my lessons, but we can always switch to English if you want! My beginner/intermediate grammar&vocab lessons are based on "Dekiru Nihongo" but you don't need to have the textbook. I will also use various other textbooks and my original materials depending on the lesson. *My lesson policy is written on each lesson details page. Please make sure to read it. レッスン中はできるだけ日本語で話しましょう。でも、英語に切り替えることもできます。初級／中級の文法・ことばのクラスは『できる日本語』の教科書を使いますが、教科書がなくても大丈夫です。他にもクラスによって色々な教科書やオリジナルの教材を使います。 *私のレッスンポリシーは各レッスンの詳細ページに書いてあります。必ずお読みください。

Very good lesson today. I can say I was too talkative today because I think I'm already comfortable speaking in Japanese with Izumi sensei. My speaking isn't very good yet but I will keep trying my best. We didn't get too far with the lesson but boy, did I get a TON of speaking practice! Super happy with today's lesson!

Had another Great lesson with Izumi San! I just really appreciate how detailed she explains the grammar so that I can fully understand! She also challenges you and makes you think about it. She won't just tell you the answer right away which works best for me. I can't wait for the next lesson because I can slowly see my Japanese improving with each lesson! Thank you again!
