I am a student of drama and literature at Stellenbosch University who loves anything to do with people, especially those who are very different from myself. Kom ons klets! I enjoy reading, writing, swimming, films, animals, dreaming, acting, psychology, philosophy and much more. This year I am doing my Honours Degree in creative writing, which means that I will constantly be engaged with my language - the structure, beauty and malleability of it. I look forward to meeting people from all different backgrounds. I intend to create long-lasting relationships with most of my students, but am also willing to help with any quick translations, explanations or brush-ups where needed.

I am extremely patient and rather calm, but can become very excited by good conversation. Ek sal nooit op jou skree nie :) I have been speaking both English and Afrikaans from a very young age and received the trophy for best bilingual student in high school. I am also currently studying English literature at university. I am also very adaptable to your specific language needs and enjoy designing lessons for individuals of all capabilities. I appreciate a good sense of humour, but understand that you are mainly here to learn, so I try to find a balance in my classes between fun and focus.

I have two main classes that I teach at the moment. The first, Easing into Afrikaans, is focused on getting you to a stage where you are comfortable to chat about the subjects you find most interesting. Depending on your level of expertise, I shall adapt my lesson strategy to serve your needs. Here I accommodate students who have no Afrikaans at all, as well as those who merely need some structured guidance and practice. The second, Afrikaans Literature, is designed for students who already have some Afrikaans experience and who are interested in reading and writing. We'll cover all materials that interest you, from cook books to children's literature, poems, novels, folk remedies to music

Anna was both supportive and adaptive throughout our first lesson. She was consistently able to engage constructively with me regarding introductory concepts and simple pronunciation in order to develop a foundation in Afrikaans (I am starting from nothing). I look forward to continuing to progress in my understanding of the language with further lessons!
