I'm Avi, a Japanese-Canadian currently living in Europe. I'm an English teacher with more than fifteen years experience teaching English reading, writing and speaking to both native speakers and language learners. I've travelled throughout America, Canada, Europe and parts of Asia and I come from a mixed-cultural background so I have a good understanding of how to connect and explain varied topics. I'm also a poet and writer with several books published, most of which are collections of my poetry. I have a deep love of English and hope to share that with people who also wish to learn and improve!

我的教學經歷

My teaching style is highly student-driven. I believe in tailoring the learning process to meet the goals that the student sets -- reading and writing, for example, or speaking, conversation, understanding spoken dialogue or even focusing on the ability to do translation. I believe it's important to focus not only on those goals but everyday use of the English language, to make the student more comfortable in a situation where they will be interacting with other English speakers, likely many of whom speak nothing else. I always encourage my students to work hard but to focus on how English can help meet their future needs for communication and understanding.

我的課程內容與教學風格

I usually start my lessons with any questions that might have come up from the previous lesson and/or homework. We then move on to some new topics, practicing them, working with some exercises and conversations or reading and writing, finishing with ways to extend the lesson, how to find more practice materials for individual study and a preview of what will happen in the next lesson. This is, of course, tailored to the individual student and would depend on their level, age and interest.
