Ik heb ervaring met lesgeven doordat ik dit doe op een middelbare school als stage. Moreover, they enjoy my energy and seem to benefit from my teaching style, which makes the experience even more fulfilling and motivating! Initially with a new student I would start off with general conversation in order to gauge your specific needs. Once we have determined those needs, with both your own and my input in the discussions I will progress to more structured lesson plans. I am patient, helpful and friendly with a wicked sense of humour... I am not overly sensitive to criticism from students, which makes it a lot easier for students to be comfortable in indicating their personal requirements for learning from me – in fact I aim to learn as much from my students as they learn from me.

I have over 17 years of teaching and training experience and I have grown comfortable coaching a variety of international clients. I have 21 years of management experience gained from running restaurants and nightclubs. At University of Illinois I was the president of student associations and gave speeches at professional events and workshops. After receiving my Master’s Degree I trained employees at University of Illinois and then taught English as a Second Language, American History at the City Colleges of Chicago. Currently I focus on helping professionals and executives expand their vocabulary, utilize creative terminology, and build confidence in their public speaking abilities.

As an active learner of several languages, I can understand many of the challenges that my students face. My goal is to provide a teaching environment where my students feel they can express as freely as they want, and are not afraid to make mistakes. It is also my opinion that learning, like many things in life, is more about the process than the destination, so keeping students engaged and interested is what I aim for in every lesson. I believe that understanding the culture is essential to learning any language. That's why in my lessons, I will try to introduce my students to some cultural background, drawing from my own personal experiences wherever I can.

I believe learning should be fun. I´m not a professional teacher but over the years I got quite a few opportunities to teach German and English for fun (sometimes, in Myanmar, for example, also for cookies...) and every single time it was a very special experience.
