With English and my qualification in Business Studies I was then able get my first teaching job in Paris, teaching predominantly Business English in schools and in companies. Teaching gave me the opportunity to indulge my passion for travel and I spent the next four years teaching in Europe before returning to the UK to consolidate my work experience with a Diploma in TEFL. Since then I have taught mainly in central London Schools and appreciate the opportunity it has given me to really get to know people and their different cultures.

I began teaching in 2004 at a Waldorf school in southern England. I taught a variety of humanities, including German, English, and French. I have also worked in translations for many years, which has helped me to learn the subtleties of expression in the languages I use. I believe in learning naturally, without studying rules and structure (none of us do this with our first language, after all!). Although I have never formally trained in teaching language, I have voluntarily taught Japanese for many years. I’ve attended to language exchange lessons in Toronto and New York and taught Japanese to people from all over the world (e.g. American, Canadian, Russian, Polish, German, Chinese, Korean, Indian etc.) from very beginners to fluent people. I made close friends who learn Japanese and we always asked and taught each other when I was studying English. One of my best friends is an American and he still asks me about the Japanese language even after he moved to Japan.
