Lots of people use the word “bubbly” when they talk about me, which means that I am always smiling and laughing, and have a positive attitude. While this is true, I am also a very serious teacher who works hard to provide my students with the tools they need to successfully learn the language.

I have completed a 130 hour TEFL course. This course has given me the skills and knowledge to help students with their English by using different techniques, exercises and teaching materials. I have communicated with a plethora of people from around the world who have spoken a variety of languages and of different ages. I also hold an Enhanced Criminal Record Certificate, which allows me to work with vulnerable children and adults. I have travelled to Brazil six times in the past and have visited other countries. Now I am living in Brazil. I am currently learning Brazilian Portuguese.

As a community teacher I see myself improving the students' conversational and writing skills. Since I do come from a psychology background, I understand the science behind the learning process and that people have different learning styles: some may like to watch things (visual learner) and some may prefer writing. Therefore, I'd try to adjust my approach based on the students' needs as well as their expectations.

My lessons are focused on building your skills in all areas of language learning: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. During the lesson, we will work on speaking and listening through role-playing activities ("scheduling a meeting", "ordering a pizza"), speaking tasks (job interviews, introducing yourself), and conversations about topics that interest you. News articles, homework, and other authentic materials are provided to help increase your vocabulary and fluency. All classes are conducted on Zoom.

I make sure that students get to practice and develop their language in order to be at the level they are aiming for, in a relaxed and friendly manner where they can gain confidence using new language. I can help especially in exam preparation having worked for many years in this area. I will give you shared documents, pdf's, text books & web links, as well as my own materials with outlines of essays, emails and spoken presentations. We will go through model language to target your aims and you can send me, or share any written work and I will then help you to sharpen it to succeed in your goals.

I learnt those strategies during the course of my life, looking out of the traditional academic schemes. I will teach you to be confident and to not be afraid of making mistakes, a crucial component for learning faster.
