Here in China I found a lot of people, both kids and adults that wanted to speak or learn from foreigners. As such I slowly learned how to teach people. Now I feel confident to teach English as well as Dutch. Teaching is a lot of fun to me, seeing students grow from beginners into full native speakers is great. I have been conversing with English language learners at my school both as volunteer and as a part time job for about a year now. I feel like I would be able to help you with continuing the conversation, pronunciation(I know a bit about how the mouth should look when making a certain sound in English and the process of learning a foreign sound since I took a Linguistics class and I understand how to add sounds to your language arsenal ^.^), and fixing your grammar mistakes. I have been teaching basic English and Mathematics to underprivileged kids in India. Being a daughter of two teachers, I have always had this inclination towards teaching all my life. Funny story, as a kid, when my parents used to have a Bring Your Children to Work Day, I would always end up in an empty classroom with chalk in my hand teaching nobody.

Although I've been using three languages since I was a kid, I didn't realize how difficult it is to learn a language until I decided to start learning Spanish as an adult. Learning a language as an adult made me a better teacher, someone who can truly understand my students' challenges and frustrations. I have been a tutor for kids in Bulgaria for English so I have some experience with teaching others. Most of my students went knowing nothing about Bahasa Indonesia but "apa kabar?" and "selamat pagi" to be able to conduct, hold, and conclude a small talk and everyday conversation, ordering food, making an appointment, giving and asking direction in just less than 30 hours class.

I have worked as an ESL teacher the past two years with students from beginner level English to advanced; from as young as 6 years old all the way to an amazing 74 year old Japanese woman who decided to learn so she could travel the world more easily! I am not a professional English teacher, so I am not qualified to actually TEACH English/Spanish/Catalan, but I can help you/your child PRACTICE. I do not have any teaching materials (workbooks or exercise books). Any readings we do in class, the student should find for themselves. But working with me (a native speaker) will help you improve your speaking, writing and reading skills in an informal and casual way!

I have been teaching from a very young age and outside paid teaching, I'm always translating things into Persian and vice versa for my family. I enjoy teaching and it has become second nature for me. I like it when you ask me a lot of questions as it shows you are engaging with the lesson and I will go to great lengths to explain something to you.

I still offer corrections and help with grammar and pronunciation, however I take note of improvements and positive points as well, so you can know what you are doing right! Even though I have specific lessons plans, I try to make the conversations feel natural and real, so that you can not only express yourself the way you might in a real life situation, but also enjoy the experience of learning English and learning about my culture, while I learn about yours.
