Written Exercise 165 – MY FIRST EXPERIENCE OF TAKING A NUCLEIC ACID TEST
In the past week, there were four confirmed COVID-19 cases and two asymptomatic carriers in the district where I live. To make matters worse, I have visited one of the places in the past two weeks where one of them had been. To prevent the coronavirus from spreading in the district and in the city, people who have visited the places where the COVID-19 patients had been and all the residents in the districts have been ordered to be tested. That’s why I took my first nucleic acid test this afternoon.
It was 34 degrees Celsius and broiling hot today. The temporary test stations were set up outdoors in every community in our area. Unfortunately, there was no one in our community, so we went to my friend’s. We saw a long line of people when we got there. There were out of large spaces for people to queue up, they could not maintain a social distancing. There were crowds. It was disturbing to think that there might be some asymptomatic carriers in the crowd. However, we did not have any choice. Actually, the test station started to collect samples at 2pm, but my friend queued up around 11am this morning. We joined my friend at about 2:30pm. We finished the test around 5pm, which means it took people 5-6 hours to take a nucleic acid test. Luckily, we stood in a line under an overpass / flyover, which helped to block out the sun and we took stools with us for seating while waiting for the test.
There were some interesting scenes that I saw either in person or in the videos people shared on social media that people pasting a notice on their back or their chair back with " I am representing my family of 2,3,4 people and so on" written on.
Now I am waiting for the result. I hope it comes out tomorrow morning.

Written Exercise 165 – MY FIRST EXPERIENCE OF TAKING A NUCLEIC ACID TEST During this
past week, there were four confirmed COVID-19 cases and two asymptomatic
carriers in the district where I live. To make matters worse, I have visited one
of the places where those cases were confirmed in the past two weeks. To prevent the
coronavirus from spreading in the district and in the city, people who have
visited the places where the COVID-19 patients had been and all the residents in
the districts have been ordered to be tested. That’s why I took my first nucleic
acid covid test this afternoon. It was 34 degrees Celsius and broiling hot today. The
temporary test stations were set up outdoors in every community in our area.
Unfortunately, there was no one in our community, so we went to my friend’s. We
saw a long line of people when we got there. There were out of large spaces for
people to line up, and could not maintain social distancing. There were large
crowds. It was scary to think that there might be some asymptomatic
carriers in the crowd. However, we did not have any choice. Actually, the test
station started to collect samples at 2pm, but my friend got there and lined up around 11am
this morning. We joined my friend at about 2:30pm. We finished the test around
5pm, which means it took people 5-6 hours to get a nucleic acid (covid) test. Luckily,
we were able to stand in line under an overpass / flyover (tent?), which helped block the sun and we took stools with us to sit while waiting for the test. There
were some interesting scenes ("things" sounds a bit natural and casual) that I saw either in person or in the videos people
shared online on social media. For instance, I saw people with signs on their back or on the back of their chair that said " I am representing my family of 2,3,4 (and so on) people".
Now I am waiting for my Covid test result. I hope it comes out tomorrow morning.
You're English is getting so good! You only had some very minor mistakes. Also, wow, a 5-6 hour wait-time outside is crazy!
