Hi I am Naoko, Japanese native, born and raised in Tokyo Japan. I had been living in the U.S. over 18 years and had spent last 13 years in New York City. I have a degree in English and Psychology from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and I have many years of working experiences in both New York and Tokyo. When I am off, I would like to take a walk at the river side, visit my mother and do my coloring.

Minha atuação como professor

I am a very easy going and fun teacher. My main focus is to make everyone speaks Japanese confidently at their own level and navigate to advance level. I’ve been successfully navigating many non-Japanese speakers into confident Japanese speakers relatively in short time depending on the numbers of lessons. I assess student’s Japanese level very quickly including identifying their habitual way of expression and repeated patterns of verb conjugation and misuse of particles. I speak English fluently as a native so I can explain Japanese grammar and culture very well and answer to all of your questions.

Minhas aulas e estilo de ensino

I use Genki book for a beginner and introduce fundamental grammatical structure in Japanese language including Ru and U-verbs and basic particles. Once they learn, students can compose phrases bit by bit. Then I move on to teach other verb conjugation which they don’t cover in the book and I focus teaching them actual useful phrases in their real life. As for children, I use handmade flash cards, hiragana, katakana charts name of the food, animals and colors and show them how to count in Japanese. I can also teach JLPT in all levels. All lessons are customized into each student’s level and interest, please don’t hesitate to tell me your request.

Naoko-sensei has been teaching our family Japanese for a few months now. I had some knowledge of the language, but my wife and kids started from zero. My wife and eldest son are now composing sentences and holding simple conversations and my younger daughters have learned many words and short phrases. Not only is Naoko-sensei is a native Japanese speaker, but her deep understanding (and speaking) of English has been very helpful in our learning of Japanese because she can thoroughly understand our questions and areas of confusion and help to clarify. We are so happy we met Naoko-sensei through iTalki and plan on continuing lessons in the long run. We'd highly recommend her!

It's always a pleasure learning with Naoko-san. She is very encouraging and has a great teaching structure. I am always learning new words and phrases, and helpful tips that you can only learn from a native speaker. Arigato gozaimashita, Naoko-san! Tanoshikatta!
