It is crucial to break barriers and to shorten the distance between the teacher and the student, and that is why I strive to create a pleasant and friendly environment to build confidence and security in the process.
I am flexible. I create a space for the students to express themselves and communicate freely without fear of making mistakes or asking questions.
I do my best to make the sessions entertaining, and at same time I can be strict, making sure that the student is well-guided.
I always check that the students have understood each concept and are able to put it into practice.

My methodology is very simple, but effective: (Very general description)
The foundation of it all is a lot of practice in conversation (speaking and listening).
Vocabulary increases in the process.
Corrections are made as mistakes come up without interrupting the flow of the conversation.
Weaknesses in the use of grammar are identified and strengthened by reviewing theory and then with practicing.
In addition, all of this is complemented with reading and writing activities.
All the skills are practiced as much as possible during each session, depending on the needs of the student.

Classes with Mauro are, in one word, a joy. The time really flies and you gain a lot of knowledge in a short amount of time. I have had many lightbulbs go off when clarifying Spanish grammar during sessions with him that I don't think would have happened that quickly otherwise. He is a very engaging teacher, knows how to keep the conversation going, and can adjust the class formats to your needs or preferred learning style. Want to expand your vocabulary around a particular topic? Need to hone in and clarify some grammar rules? Learning a new tense? Prefer to just work on conversation skills? I have been able to work on all of these things during my classes with Mauro. If you want to learn Spanish and have fun doing it definitely reach out to him!

I started working with Mauro as my Spanish teacher about a year and a half ago. When we started I was a Spanish speaking novice at best -- and the little Spanish I did know I was very nervous to talk to anybody for fear of making a mistake, sounding foolish or embarrassing myself. Last week I just returned from a family vacation to Spain. Mauro challenged me to not speak ANY English while on this trip. Let me tell you the trip was amazing and I really surprised myself at how far my Spanish had come. Not only was I able to do the basics, but I was holding conversations with taxi drivers, waiters, hotel employees, shop owners and other people we met on our trip. I credit Mauro with my success. Not only has Mauro been an incredible teacher over the past 1.5years (we have a lesson once per week), but he has given me the confidence to overcome my fears and move outside of my comfort zone. Anyone who is considering learning Spanish, I highly recommend Mauro--he is amazing teacher!

Mauro is the best! He is well organized and has very useful material to help you learn. He provides homework, which I love. He is very creative in the way he educates, I am never bored, time goes by fast! He is very patient, kind and also hilarious! You can tell he takes his job very seriously and wants you to get better. He is very encouraging and I look forward to our next lessons. I plan on using Mauro for the next few months. I already can tell my Spanish is getting better! I highly recommend Mauro!

Mauro us engaging, attentive, a truly excellent teacher. Lessons with him are fun, very educational and motivating. I cannot imagine a better person with whom to learn Spanish.
