When should you use Russian reflexive pronouns (свой, своя, свое, свои)? Свой (masculine): cвой дом, cвой телефон, cвой портфель, cвой стул. Своя (feminine): cвоя дочка, своя сестра, своя ручка, своя кошка. Своё (neuter): cвоё дело, cвоё пальто, cвоё окно, cвоё имя. Свои (pl.one's own): cвои джинсы, cвои очки, cвои дела, cвои туфли. Reflexive pronouns show the difference between the owner / holder and the object in the sentence: Анна любит своего кота. Анна любит её кота. Reflexive pronouns are used if the subject in the sentence and the owner of an object are the same person, for example: Она потеряла свою книгу в классе. If we are talking about the first person, for example, "Я", then it is better to use reflexive pronouns, but this rule is not necessary: Я люблю мою собаку. = Я люблю свою собаку. There is an exception to remember - reflexive pronouns are not used in the nominative case, except in this case: У него есть свой гараж. У каждого своя судьба. In these examples, pronouns are in the nominative case and agree with the noun. It is worth remembering that reflexive pronouns are inflected in the same way as the possessive pronouns "my" and "your": Иван едет к своим друзьям. (Иван едет к моим друзьям) Мария вспоминала о своей бабушке. (Мария вспоминала о твоей бабушке).
