Since finishing my postgrad studies fifteen years ago, I have taught English both in South-East Asia and in England. Over time, I have come to focus on adult education, and in particular, on teaching lower intermediate to advanced level students.

As a community tutor, I help identify my students' English and Tagalog goals whether for writing or speaking. I would like to help find efficient and fun ways that will help them overcome the challenges they are facing using the said languages.

I have a B.A. in English for Cross-Cultural Communication with a qualification of a teacher and a master's degree in Mediation and Communication with specialization in translation studies. I've worked as a teacher in a youth center in Armenia and taught online in a Russian language school called ''Skyeng''. Now I work in HBLS, a language school in Brussels. I've worked with people of different age groups and different levels of language proficiency. I usually motivate my students and try my best to engage them in the learning process. It's a real blast for me to monitor my students' progress.

I’ve been teaching Farsi, English and Spanish since 2009. After teaching different students and trying various methods, I have come to believe everyone learns through their own unique way. Therefore, I would love to take the time to understand how my students learn and to use that knowledge to expedite their improvement. I am a language student myself and used to be painfully shy when speaking a foreign language. I didn't let that stop me though! I figured out that the hardest part of speaking any foreign language is starting. The fear of failure can be terrifying but finding a teacher that you feel comfortable speaking to can make all the difference. In my classes, mistakes are encouraged as they are what we learn from. We all make mistakes but languages are a tool for communication with others most importantly and I believe that comfort - not perfection- is key. As a teacher I'm am constantly trying to find better ways to help my students, including recently finishing my TEFL certification.

Growing up, I always helped my classmates with English tests and later on I started teaching children in my hometown English. I do not use traditional language learning methods to learn languages or to teach them. They do not work well. Instead, I focus on building up a fundamental foundation of vocabulary and basic grammar, and then immerse myself and students in content that is made for native speakers. This is how the native speakers learn their first language, and it is the best way to learn any foreign language. Another thing that is majorly lacking in most classroom settings is actually speaking. This will not be a problem with me as this will be the main focus point of my lessons. I am a firm believer in the fact that you need to speak a language in order to learn it effectively.
