We covered pronunciation of the alphabet and some of the compound sounds. What was especially useful for me was Carol was teaching me in Mandarin - I'm also learning Mandarin, so having her instruct me helped for more language exposure. I didn't understand 100% of everything said, but I caught enough to get the gist of things and guess the rest through context. Really helpful. Thanks for the class Carol!

Continued to review the Vietnamese tones and alphabet. We also spent some time covering the different pronouns used for people depending on their relationship to their viewer - it's pretty complex; imagine if someone saw the concept of usted and tu to denote formality when addressing someone in the second person, and decided to flesh that out into an entire system based on age, seniority and gender. That's the gist of learning how to address yourself and others in Vietnamese. Thanks for the lesson Carol!

Carol was friendly and helpful. She tried to understand my objectives and then shared various methods of learning that could help me. We finally agreed on how best to approach the classes going forward.
