I focus on conversation and vocabulary. I have developed my own method using cartoons where you watch a cartoon before the lesson, accompanied with a PDF with useful translations of words and phrases, and then we go through the storyline together in the lesson. You can choose a video with bokmål/standard or dialects! I'm very patient, and I try my best to encourage my students to use the language as much as possible. I create a lot of my own material, often inspired by my students and my own language learning methods. I don't usually follow text books but focus on conversation and using different types of material, working on grammar as it 'pops up' along the way, or on request.

First of all it is important to me to know your goals before we start. There are many reasons why someone would like to learn Norwegian, maybe you have relatives living in Norway today, or perhaps your ancestors emigrated from Norway a long time ago? It may also be that you are planning a vacation to Norway so see the wonderful nature and experience the culture of the Vikings! Quite a few people would like to learn Norwegian well in order to get a job in Norway! Based on your goals I will make an individual curriculum that focus on what you need to learn in order to master the Norwegian language at a level that you need to succeed.

As a teacher I will always do my best to facilitate you learning the language, and help you to the best of my ability. However, there are a few things you will have to keep in mind, and that is all the work required to learn a language. There are two things in particular that are needed, time and some form of consistent effort. Just speaking with a teacher does not mean you will magically learn a language, you have to put in a lot of time and effort on your own as well. Spending 30 minutes each day (3.5 hours a week) is better than sitting down and spending 8 hours each Saturday. If you do your part, I will do mine to help you along the way and make it as easy as possible for you.

I am openminded to what type of class you want, and don't have anyone that I do not accept. However, all students are different, and will require a different approach to learning 'their way'! So please tell me how you like to learn! One group of students wants theoretical lessons, where we follow a textbook: with short texts, exercises and new grammar. This is particularly good if you want to take a language exam later like ´Bergenstesten´(B2 Level). Another group chooses to acquire the language by discussing and talking, either beginners but mostly intermediate and advanced students. However, most like a little of both! Theory + Practice

I think it is really important to create a safe and nice environment where there is room for making mistakes and thereby learning. Share your goals with me, and we can take it from there. I will adapt my teaching style to your needs and wants.

I have some experience teaching mostly 1st and 2nd graders in Norway. When I started, it was just a job, a way to make money – but I quickly realized that teaching was something I could see myself doing on a permanent basis. I found it very rewarding and I myself learned many ways to make learning fun for the students, and to implement it in everything I did in the classroom. Working with the children made me absolutely love teaching, and I believe teaching adults is just as rewarding.

I try to make my online lessons as cosy as possible. I use the video-conference system, so I can see my students and they can see me; we can talk, we make the exercises together, I explain all the grammar, and if my students have any doubt or questions, I explain it orally which I think makes it easier to be understood. Besides the I also speak English, French, Norwegian and Finnish. And I understand Swedish and German. Teaching and learning language is my hobby and I am learning Greek myself. Welcome to learn Dutch or Norwegian with me.
