After studying Korean Language and Literature at university, I had experience teaching languages for several years in both Korea and Japan. I have also studied Japanese for many years and have spent 18 months living in Tokyo, so I can read, speak, and teach Japanese at an advanced level. During my time in Tokyo I made fun and engaging lessons to teach Korean to school children. 한국에 있는 인하대학교에서 4년간 한국어문학을 전공하면서 동시에 일본어와 영어를 공부했구요, 일본 도쿄에서 교환학생으로 일본문학을 공부하기도 하면서 일본어도 재밌게 배울 수 있었어요. 2019년에는 도쿄에서 학생들에게 한국어를 가르치는 수업도 진행하면서 강사로서의 경력도 쌓아갈 수 있었답니다.

We, as language learners need the motivation to keep learning. In my opinion, that kind of motivation mainly comes from having regular conversations with native speakers, especially those who have experienced the same struggles of learning a new language. In that sense, I really want to be a supporter of yours. I also majored art and art Studies, art history, and now I work as an art teacher. I think the most important quality as a teacher is the ability to encourage learners. Learning a language is not always easy and there are ups and downs. And it requires quite a bit of efforts and dedication. I believe that a good teacher makes learning more pleasant even when learners bump into obstacles, and makes them feel comfortable and relaxed so that they can speak without feeling nervous. So I try to be a good listener. I also try to make each class fun and helpful with lots of preparation.

I am currently taking a program to become a government certified teacher. I have experience of teaching children in USA for about 2 years and I really enjoyed it. I like to motivate my students, mostly let my student solve the problems and challenges alone because I believe in that way students can practice more with the grammar, but I am happy to help my students if they find it too challenging.

I have been teaching English in Korea and the UK for nearly 10 years now. In Korea, I worked at private language institutions such as Wall Street Institute and Direct English where I taught students of various ages and careers. In the UK, I briefly taught in the summer programme at Bristol Language Centre, but I've mainly worked at the University of Bath where I am currently based. I am now working as an educational researcher, but still occasionally teaching students on academic skills. I am also a CELTA qualified teacher with a Master’s in TESOL and PhD in Education.

Before teaching Korean I taught English to Korean teenagers over 10 years in Seoul. I'm a TESOL qualified teacher. Just before coming to Milan, I got a degree and a certificate in teaching Korean to foreigners. Experience teaching English was helpful for me to teach Korean. In Milan, I taught Korean at Universita Della Terza eta. My first students were beginners without knowing the Korean alphabet. Most of all they were busy and could spend only one hour a week. But after one year they could read it and talk simple dialogue.
