I speak English, Spanish, Afrikaans and Xhosa, and underwent training in received British pronunciation. I have been living in South Africa for the last few years, in the morning we often see a troop of baboons passing by. Although I've been using three languages since I was a kid, I didn't realize how difficult it is to learn a language until I decided to start learning Spanish as an adult. Learning a language as an adult made me a better teacher, someone who can truly understand my students' challenges and frustrations. I received TEFL certification from The Boston Language Institute. The program was an in-person 120-hour program that included supervised teaching of actual ESL classes. During the course, the instructors regularly told me that I should specialize in Business English. Since leaving Boston Language Institute, I have taught at language schools, privately tutored, worked as a high school English and World Studies teacher, and I am also experienced in teaching young children online. In 2020, I also completed a 120-hour TESOL certification program.
