I am a TEFL-certified English teacher, with a background in journalism. During my ten years as a magazine editor, I've gained incomparable experience in correcting and levelling-up people's English skills. Further, I've been teaching English privately for around five years across the UK, Germany and Thailand. I love teaching, I have 8 years teaching experience in Thailand, teaching English as a second language (ESL) to a wide range of students from Elementary level right through to PhD Students. I kind of fell into teaching when I came to live here in Thailand, I was asked to help at the local school teaching conversation skills to the local students. I really enjoyed this and wanted to do more, I got the teaching bug! Sometimes, a gentle reminder is enough, and other times, we will work more thoroughly on a specific pronunciation or grammar point.

I taught music for two years in Canada, then I moved to China to teach ESL. I worked at a high school, training school and kindergarten. For the past year, I have been teaching online from Indonesia. I have been teaching English in Korea and the UK for nearly 10 years now. In Korea, I worked at private language institutions such as Wall Street Institute and Direct English where I taught students of various ages and careers. In the UK, I briefly taught in the summer programme at Bristol Language Centre, but I've mainly worked at the University of Bath where I am currently based. I am now working as an educational researcher, but still occasionally teaching students on academic skills. I am also a CELTA qualified teacher with a Master’s in TESOL and PhD in Education.
