I am a qualified TEFL English and Advanced Business English tutor. I also hold certificates in teaching Test Preparation for TOEIC and IELTS. I worked as a trainer in the UK care industry for 15 years, teaching students from all around the world the English skills needed to work in the NHS and private healthcare sectors.

I have been teaching for 4 years, I'm proud of the experience I have accumulated and I think working online is the next step in my career growth. I started my experience by working in summer school where I taught international teenagers, then went on to teach in a Spanish nursery school. The following year, I worked in Egypt teaching adults and then I worked in Japan for 2 years teaching children and adults. During my second year in Japan, I became senior teacher in a school that taught children. This experience really enhanced my teaching because I became a lot more creative with the kind of activities I do and I started using similar games and activities with my adult students.

I have been teaching English for 26 years and I have a Certificate in TEFLA (CELTA), an Advanced Certificate in TESOL and an MA in Applied Linguistics and TESOL. I was the editor of a Teacher Education journal in Japan for eight years and I taught at universities there for 15 years. I have been teaching pre-sessional courses at the University of Glasgow since 2015 so I have a lot of experience in preparing students for the cultural and academic expectations in an English-speaking university setting. The goal of the pre-sessional courses is for the students to attain an IELTS-equivalent score of 6.5 or 7. In addition, I have been teaching scuba diving and first aid since 2002.

In our class, YOU will be doing most of the speaking! I provide delayed corrections as well as written feedback and explanations for you to keep and study. I am extremely patient and do my best to create a positive learning environment where we learn from our mistakes. We can discuss a variety of topics, news articles, or practice role-playing and interview scenarios.

I am a TEFL qualified teacher who has experience within language school's teaching classes to children under 16 and private lessons with Adult learners. For example, "What would you tell your 20-year-old self?" – maybe you will teach me something too:) If you are not interested in having high level conversations, I am not the right teacher for you. I am a registered school teacher and also have qualifications to teach English as a Foreign Language and Business English. Since I retired from classroom teaching, I have taught English to students in China, Poland, Romania, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Poland. I would like to focus my online teaching on Conversational English.

[For beginners], I usually start by improving my students' reading skill and then move to grammar lessons using grammar textbooks, pictures, flashcards etc..I assign homework. I’ve been learning how to speak a language in different ways (traditional- in school and natural-like a child) and the natural way is by far the most stimulating and motivating way. My classes will be mostly conversational and we will personalize every class to your abilities, needs and goals. I can help you with everything from grammar, preparation for Swedish exams, new vocabulary etc. Life is a constant learning process that never ends. Every day we are learning new things and improving as long as we stay curious and engaged.

I am a TEFL Certified English Teacher. I specialize in young children beginners. I keep my lessons fun and engaging for my students. I also do conversational lessons for adults. Confidence building, pronunciation perfection, vocabulary, fluency, and more. I teach phonics to young kids which helps them to correct pronunciation and confidence. Teaching is a passion of mine and is something that I have been doing since I turned 18. In our first lesson we will probably talk about why you're learning English and what your goals are. It's important to me that we practise the English you want to be able to use, so I'll be guided by your interests, passions and needs. Beyond italki, I have given one-on-one French tuition, and have taught English and theatre skills to students of all ages.

As a teacher I am understanding and supportive. I'm a caring person and have a good sense of humor. You won't have to worry about making mistakes when you practice conversation with me. If you make a mistake, I can either correct you in the moment, or correct your mistakes at the end of the class. It's your choice.

I really loved being an English teacher in Japan and continue to love teaching here on italki, helping people of all ages from all over the world become confident in the English language. I am dedicated to supporting my students on their language journey and adapting my lessons to their specific needs. I am a true believer in learning natural English rather than robotic English that is taught in textbooks alone. I understand that learning a new language can become boring and stressful, but I aim to make sure lessons are exciting, fun and enjoyable.
