Hi, my name is Martin and I work as a language tutor in Brazil, where I have been living for 3 years. I am married, one child. I love to teach my mother tongue - Czech - wordldwide and to know new people and their culture through our conversation.

I am a patient teacher. I always give students space to talk and I try to support them if they don´t know the right word or grammar. I try to help my students to understand the language and its structure. I have given mostly individual lectures. I have experience with teaching Czech grammar, vocabulary and preparing students for passing the Czech Language Exam for Applicants for Permanent Residency in the Czech Republic.

My goal is not just to teach you Czech but also to show you how to learn it yourself. Don't expect a traditional teacher-student relationship. We will be working as a team and your Czech learning journey will be our shared project. You can expect a professional, yet very friendly, informal and encouraging environment. I’ll tailor the sessions to your needs and apply coaching principles (I am a certified Neurolanguage Coach®) while doing so. We’ll work as a team to define the right content of the sessions. As a result, I usually won't tell you what to do but rather help you understand what's best for you to do. Sounds like a small thing but believe me, it makes a huge difference.

Apart from Czech I speak fluently English and partly German, French and Spanish, so we will not have any problems to understand each other.

I have taught a fair amount of people back in my school years, as a part-time job. I am patient, understanding and hardworking with quite the attention to detail.

I like to build long-term relations with my students (some students stay with me for years, which I consider to be the best proof of their satisfaction). However, I also prepare for language exams (which is usually unfortunately shorter cooperation yet also a fruitful one). I also teach kids (I have the most experience with 10+).

I'm a very patient person and will tailor the lesson to every person's need. At the same time, I'm well organized, I like that my class has a structure. I'm also a flexible and open-minded person. I’m aware of the difficulties of speaking in French, English and Spanish, because I have had to overcome them myself. That is why in my course I'd like to focus on conversation. I know that it can be a challenge to speak to a native speaker, that’s why I’m going to adapt to each student's pace. My students are from all over the world and I love the connection and friendship that we make.

In Spain I have given Spanish class to several people, crew members of yachts. Some found it difficult to let go of shy and start talking. But we have succeeded. And very soon they already knew how to handle the language well. I have 2 years of experience in teaching English at language schools where I was teaching mostly adults and also as a private tutor for kids. I can teach grammar and also conversation. I am a native speaker of the Czech language so I may help you with practicing your conversation and answer some questions about grammar or pronunciation. But I do not teach grammar. I’ve been teaching foreign languages for a couple of years now and I have developed as a teacher in both understanding the needs of my students and attuning the teaching materials (of which I have a vast supply) to meet their needs in an engaging and bespoke fashion.

I am an easygoing, friendly, and patient guy. I know Czech is a difficult language with a lot of evil grammar goblins messing up with cases, declensions, and 14 different types of nouns. We have the letter Ř and hard-to-pronounce-words that refuse to hang out with vowels. On behalf of my nation, I apologize and would like to pay it back by simplifying it for you and providing some strategies.

In general, I'm a patient, happy, open-minded person. I offer a flexible tutor style of teaching.
