Hello! My name's Michael. I'm 29 years old and I'm a native English speaker who just happened to grow up also speaking Greek! I have always loved learning foreign languages (I also speak French and Italian) and I would consider it my main hobby, having tried my hand at Hungarian, Serbian, and Scottish Gaelic, to name just a few of the more interesting choices I've made! I love travelling and visiting friends abroad, especially when I get a good sample of the local language, culture, and cuisine! I enjoy blogging and vlogging, and helping others with their language learning... oh, and talking about grammar and etymology. I especially love how my job means I get to talk about those two things!

I have been teaching Greek as a foreign language for over ten years, and English as a foreign language for the past two years. I have mainly taught 1-to-1 privately but have also taught children, small groups, and classes both here in England and in Hungary shortly after I acquired CELTA. I currently have no professional qualifications in teaching Greek but that will change very soon.

내 강의 및 지도 스타일

I use my extensive experience in language learning to teach to best of my ability and I always aim to ensure that my lessons are enjoyable and interesting. I mainly use Skype and Google Docs and utilise YouTube quite often, providing links to audio material, be it a documentary, episode of a TV series, a vlog or a music video! I vary my materials according to the student. I'm quite flexible in my approach, but in the past most of my students have preferred either a spoken language focus or a grammar focus. I also use memes and articles to help with vocabulary acquisition and have used Easy Readers in the past with comprehension questions after each chapter.

Private TutorN/A - London, 영국I have taught Greek and Italian to a wide range of students of all ages (6-70+) and abilities (dyslexic, hard of hearing, blind). I have only recently begun to teach my native language, English, to students both online and in person. However, I have over a year’s experience doing this for Greek and this, I have found, has helped me tremendously in preparing lessons and adapting to the set-up technologically. I have previously prepared students for exams (GCSE Modern Greek).

I have been using materials provided by the school and my own in order to teach them basic grammar and communication skills in the Modern Greek language, implementing colour-coding for gender and thematic vocabulary, flashcards, music, video, worksheets and games.
