Formal Class: The first part is dedicated to conversation practice, in which we can discuss any given topic. The second part is dedicated to discussing an internet article that I send to the student. The third part of the class is dedicated to grammar practice and error correction.

Marcelo has been a really great teacher for me to learn Portuguese! I started learning Portuguese by taking 12 weeks of in-person, small group classes (24 hours total). At the end of the 12 weeks, I new basic words and phrases but definitely couldn't hold a conversation. When my original teacher moved back to Brazil, I found Marcelo on Italki 6 months ago. Talking with Marcelo for just 1 hour a week has exponentially improved my language skills! I have had maybe 16 hours with him and I went from hardly being able to say a sentence to speaking 90% of the class in Portuguese. Marcelo is very patient and doesn't correct my every mistake which has made me feel more confident. After the class I have a list of phrases and translations to study. I also like that he is very flexible in case I need to reschedule. Our classes feel more like two friends catching up and sharing stories than an actual lesson! Obrigada Marcelo!
