I have been a teacher for 5 years and have experience teaching IELTS classes and both BEC higher and BEC vantage classes. I have also taught all general English levels from A0 to C2.

I hold a TEFL certificate from UC San Diego California as well as a Teaching English Grammar (TEG). Cureently working on my IELTS preparation certification. I have also been a conversation leader for international students in San Diego, California. I have been teaching both face to face and online, now more so than before for obvious reasons. I am keen on learning languages and I know how challenging it can be sometimes. During the lessons, I want you to speak Russian or English as much as possible. But when something is unclear, I can explain it to you in English or German. During the sessions we will also study grammar and pronunciation, but our main focus is conversation.

I have years of teaching experience, teaching English as a foreign language most recently in Tanzania, the U.K and now here in Italy. I have taught in various environments, from formal school settings (teaching students the Cambridge International Curriculum at an international school: GCSEs, A-Levels, as well as CAE English Speaking tests), right through to more informal lessons teaching both in person and online, as well as teaching at international language schools, language centres and summer camps.

As a teacher I’m guided by a line from Don Quijote, “Cada uno es hijo de sus obras.” (“We are all the children of our accomplishments.”) and an anthropological observation that “education is identity change.” Learning is more than the acquisition of new skills, it’s the emergence of a new identity. I first saw it in my dissertation research, and then I began to see it everywhere. Learning anything new, especially another language, means becoming someone new. These insights continually challenge me to offer relevant instructional opportunities that allow learners to experience themselves engaging in new practices that they can then convert into newer versions of themselves.

I started teaching English because I had such a fun time learning other languages. I want to help others find the same joy learning English as I did learning Italian and German.
