I earned my TEFL certificate in 2015, and I've been teaching at a private language school in Florence ever since. I have taught students or all levels from a wide variety of backgrounds. I also have a lot of experience in test preparation--my specialties are the TOEFL and the SAT, but I also have experience with iELTS, TOEIC, Cambridge exams, ACT, GMAT, and GRE.

I have a bachelor’s and a specialist’s degree in pedagogy and methodology of teaching English. I also have a bachelor’s degree in Economics. I am a certified English teacher. I have IHCTL certificate. This stands for International House Certificate in Teaching Languages, which is CELTA equivalent. I’ve been a passionate and enthusiastic teacher of English for about 10 years. I strongly believe that anyone can learn a foreign language with the appropriate guidance and support.

I have 3 years of teaching experience, accross various fields, from English to art and photography! Sharing what I know, and watching my students grow is so rewarding. As stated in my introduction video, I am a TEFL certified ESL English teacher. I have five years experience teaching English as a second language to people of all ages. I believe in using many forms of media in my lessons to allow for more creative learning. Videos, PPTs, songs, flashcards- whatever your interest, I'm confident I can find the best way to help you learn with ease.

Patience is the quality I most appreciated about my own language teachers: it made learning Spanish so much easier for me if my teachers didn’t rush me to speak. For this reason, patience is an important part of my teaching style. I never rush my students to express their thoughts in English. I give them as much time as they need. I also find it is helpful to develop a relationship with students that goes beyond the classical student-teacher one. For me, my online students are my friends, and I want them to think of me the same way. I find that this not only creates a more enjoyable experience for both me and the student, but it also creates a more conducive environment for learning.

As a teacher i love to listen to my students and feel their needs. I have taught English online since March 2019. I have had the opportunity to meet the most wonderful students and watch them grow in knowledge every day. I am patient and understand that language learning is a skill that does not come naturally to everyone.

The main areas of teaching English as a foreign language that I have specialized in are General English, Business English, English for Academic Purposes, Critical Thinking and IELTS exam Preparation. Over the last several years, I have taught on numerous pre-sessional courses for students preparing to take a BA or MA degree in UK or Australian based universities. Over my teaching career, I have instructed students of various ages, nationalities and backgrounds and I have a lot of experience teaching learners on a one-to-one basis. In terms of credentials, I have gained a BA in Music, an MA in Education, and the English Language teaching qualifications of CELTA and DELTA.

My goal is always to tailor my class to the individual student's need. I think it's important to identify what your goals are and create a plan for how we can reach them!

As a teacher, I'm very adaptable. I have experience teaching all ages, from age 4 to age 70. I am a father, so I have developed a lot of patience with teaching children. I have also taught literacy to elderly people, and business English in a classroom setting, and conversation lessons. For you, I will use appropriate materials to help you on your way to express yourself in English in whatever settings you need. There are so many wonderful tools available these days, and I can help you find and use them. In my language-learning journey, I have benefited tremendously from learning to sing songs in foreign languages (French and Spanish). I'd love to sing with you.

I am available to help persons who wish to: - improve their English through natural conversation; - improve their pronunciation and grammar; - work on writing and speaking practice for IELTS; - practice for job interviews; - or receive help with writing tasks (emails, reports, applications, essays, etc.).
